There are plenty on google. You should send them your book and see if they want to represent you.

LOL, this is probably why I think I need an agent, I'm actually very shy about contacting strangers. :-)

Or at least work out what areas you want to specialise in, create book(s) that reflect your work in those market areas and contact reps in those markets (e.g., LA fashion, NY lifestyle, FL portraits).
Dunno what you are looking to do, but you should be able to identify the niche, the market and find agents in those markets and approach them with a solid portfolio of relevant work.
That'd seem to be the starting point ?

Sounds good to me. But I am a marketing moron. I know I don't want to stay at the level I am now, but not sure how to get to the next level.

Something that might help put your thoughts in order would be to clearly outline what it is that you want the next level to be. My parents are in advertising, and that's something they've drilled into my head for years. It's impossible to make a good plan to get where you want to go if you don't have a really good idea of WHERE that idea is. Once you know what kind of business (how many clients a week, what kind of photography, what kind of money, etc) then you can begin to see the steps that lead you that way :-) |

You just need Banana Hands (Tony Robbins) to help you awake the giant within you and unlock your personal power!
Gary Fong has a book too about how to get RICH with photography! Apparently all it takes is to market salsa bowls for flashes and the money just starts rolling in!
I've been working on a design for sombreros for memory cards, I'll let you know how it goes. |

It's people like Gary Fong and Ken Rockwell that make me so depressed as to where I am. Both are good but not THAT good, yet both are well-known.
Perhaps I need to grow a bigger ego.

What you need is a cool sounding name, like "Fong". I'm afraid "Dickson" doesn't quite cut it as a cool name. Maybe you should change your name to Leroy Shakalaka.

Why not just drop the Leroy too and just be Shakalaka? Maybe a screen name change would make me feel better.
