Yikes. It's one thing to critique the photo and another to critique the subject. Oh well, at least the score you got on the photo is better than any score the commenter has gotten thus far...

Here's one of the oddest comments I've gotten:
Ah! Bird flu!

On the second challenge I entered, someone wrote
"bad!"
and that's it. I was bummed! I know the pic wasn't amaaaazing or anything, but yikes! At least someone else commented that they were surprised it didn't finish higher, becuase they liked it. That made me feel a bit better. ;)

Why did they vote that? Why bother telling me their vote if I don't know why they voted?
That's quite a nice thing to leave though! sixes are good!

Hmmm, looking at profile, this person doesn´t have much authority on focus or beauty ;)
Nasty thing to say though..

â€Â¢ On a floral: "Seems as though this photograph is lacking something emotive"
â€Â¢ On an backlit image with extensive fog in a white-barked alder grove: "Sorry but you did not meet the challenge description. The background was to be white and the subject mostly a light colour."
â€Â¢ On an image with backlit fog, considerable brighter than 18% grey: "am having a hard time with this meeting the challenge....subject has too many dark tones"
â€Â¢ "Don't get the title"
â€Â¢ "DNMC", "DNMC", "DNMC", etc.
â€Â¢ Comments entirely pre-occupied with the commentator's fixation on having to 'know' or 'understand' something about the subject or title of an image. |

Ok, I try to pretend to be a little open minded... I can give most images the consideration that somehow they may meet the challenge in the eyes of the photographer.
Yet, I still try to make some connection with the topic of the challenge and the elements inside of the image. Sometimes I can not make the concept out.
If being a horrid comment to say that I personally do not 'UNDERSTAND' what you are trying to say, is not a reflection of my 'poor comment' it is a reflection of the photographer not being able to Clearly make their statement.

I was just starting out when I got this one....
It is hard to comment (and therefore we usualy don't comment) pictures that are
bad in all the aspects of photography. I don't know what to say about this one.
You didn't do anything right and everything you did, you did it wrong.
Verrrrry helpful!

I didn't attribute 'horrid'. The thread title has it 'least favorite'.
I (the photographer), like many other photographers, make no 'statements'. Many of my images are esoteric documents (especially during their 'making') entirely without 'hidden meaning' or any kind of 'message'. They are documents intended to be studied, 'taken in', if you will.
To receive a comment like the one you refer to under the kind of image I described, would, manifest a perfect example of one I'd consider my 'least favorite'. |

What the hell good is this.
I have received 2 lately from the same person that I thought were really lame, but after looking at his portfolio, I disregarded his input all together. |

funny how i was offended by this comment many years ago, now
it seems trivial.
(she is an extremely talented musician.)
As a musician, it really pains me to see somebody with such a forced pose, obviously not playing. I'd much prefer to see a spontaneous expression as a result of a special moment within some music. |
