Oh yeah, oh yeah. Got back in time from my backpacking trip. Let's just say the outtake was two bald eagles sitting on a piece of driftwood jutting like a mast over the beach.
The OUTTAKE! MUAHAHA!
Hey, and as an added bonus...the camera returns in one piece.

I'm jealous. I've been unsuccessfully chasing eagles for two years!
Not too many hang out in my area of Ohio. If you're serious, I'd love to see your outtake. Of course, not during the challenge, though. ;) Good luck to you. You're going to need it. MUAHAHA

To me, wildlife can be anything living and surviving in the wild without domestication or caging. Yes a plant, tree, flower, etc... may be stretching the challenge, but it is wildlife. This challenge is quite open for all species; some may not commonly considered "wildlife", but to me, this includes spiders, insects, and maybe even flora (a venus fly-trap is a predator in its own way). Agreed. Just pointing out that the challenge description is limiting and you will get dinged for going outside the box. : ) |
Well challenge after challenge proves that voters don't read the challenge description which is why this shot did quite well in the last wildlife challenge:
ETA: Mind you insects should be allowed in my opinion but the challenge description clearly stated it wasn't allowed.

There is a family of nine baldies roaming the area, two adults and seven juveniles. Add to them the other adults hanging around and I'd say there are at least 15 bald eagles in the immediate area. As an added bonus we have a few golden eagles to boot!
You should swing north for the photo op :) |

This is really a tough challenge, because for most it is going to take a significant amount of time. I entered my entry, and I know it will do poorly for context alone. Sometimes I think challenges like these need two weeks for most people to go out and get the shot. Can't wait too see the great captures in this challenge though. Good luck to all. |

Agreed. It isn't an easy challenge, and I actually had to call in sick one day to work in order to go out again to try for some nice wildlife shots. Last time I did this, I got an honorable mention in the challenge (Called in sick that is.) I hope this one at least scores in the high fives, but not holding my breath.Originally posted by jaysonmc: This is really a tough challenge, because for most it is going to take a significant amount of time. There are a pair of eagles at the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge over by the Davis-Besse plant, and another pair at Cross Winds Marsh in SE Michigan. Haven't had any luck over the last two years either and I have a 100-400mm telephoto.

I am hoping to get some eagle shots in February along the Connecticut River. Have never done eagles, don't know how they will come out, but hopefully the eagles will be there and my 70-300mm lens will handle it I hope.Originally posted by Marjo:

Not fair, Alfresco! You've got way more than your share. ;)
I was trying to figure out a way to go to KY. They're (KY State Park) advertising eagle watch tours/cruises running the next few weekends. It might be a tad bit warmer weather than heading north.
I couldn't get close enough last year with a 500mm for the nesting pair in the Brown County/Ohio river area. I also went to Mohican State Park after my son spotted two while staying at the lodge. No luck for me. All I saw was a goose. :(
