Captured the mood of the nectaring perfectly from this angle.

I don't see how this shot can be improved. 10 from me and on my favorites list.
01/30/2006 01:01:05 PM
Nice photo, but I don't think it fits the category of "non-domesticated mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians"
01/30/2006 02:00:20 AM
Fantastic colors and DOF. Beautiful picture. The details really make the shot.
01/29/2006 11:29:17 PM
Wow great catch and perfect focus too. Very nice
01/29/2006 08:35:27 PM
Nice shot, but insects are not included in the challenge.
01/29/2006 06:08:08 PM
How did you get that butterfly to choose a flower in a complementary color? ;-) Sure does make the picture sparkle. It also helps that the butterfly is tack sharp focus. I give this a 9.

cool! so close by!!
01/29/2006 11:49:29 AM
nicely captured, good macro work
01/29/2006 03:56:28 AM
Almost flawless, in all respects. This is certainly my vote so far, to get the blue ribbon.
01/29/2006 03:02:44 AM
so vibrant
01/29/2006 01:59:50 AM
Nice!

very nice compositio ... terrific color, backlit exposure, and focus ... effective use of DOF to isolate headliners!
01/28/2006 02:18:00 PM
This is one of the top two or three pictures in this challenge. The pity is that it does not meet the challenge criteria: "non-domesticated mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians". Would love to give it a higher score.

This has far more than the typical butterfly macro. I love the textural variations as well as the combination of warm and cool tones. 9
01/27/2006 02:15:14 PM
beautiful capture, but as I am sure others have said, not positive I can call a butterfly "wildlife"
01/27/2006 01:20:35 PM
Wow! This is fantastic. Best that I have seen so far for this challenge. I like the way the butterfly is backlit.
01/27/2006 06:21:47 AM
"WOW" factor here, so very good, a great close-up, and you have captured the butterfly & flower details so very well........one of my favorites.....
01/26/2006 07:59:01 PM
I like this the most, good job.
01/26/2006 02:39:54 PM
Beautiful photo, but not, "a mammal, bird reptile or amphibian."....3
01/26/2006 06:35:19 AM
Brilliant shot. Amazing colours.9
01/26/2006 03:41:37 AM
This is a magnificent macro - truly great work. The colour is magical, the composition interesting and it meets the challenge perfectly. Has to be a 10.
01/25/2006 11:03:05 PM
Wonderful color and detail. Great picture!
01/25/2006 10:54:14 PM
7 - Nice capture and colors. Criticism; this looks slightly 'unnatural', whether it is pp work, or what not sure, but apologies in advance if wrong. Sharper/more definition in the butterfly would have made this even better in my opinion. Possibly a little more space 'around' the butterfly as well, but not sure as 'works' as is. Also, the plant is not lavender, not sure what, maybe liatris, who knows, but your title may be referencing color anyway.
01/25/2006 10:50:24 PM
One of my favorites!

well done.

Really nice colors.
01/25/2006 02:35:05 PM
Nice
01/25/2006 01:57:36 PM
Nice composition. Wish the flowers at the top were all in focus. Nice colour.
01/25/2006 11:52:08 AM
As beautiful as this is, and I do have it as a favorite, it is DNMC for being an insect. My score reflects that.
01/25/2006 10:31:23 AM
I like the compositiion and color. Very sharp. Good job.
01/25/2006 10:17:34 AM
Wonderful swallowtail and flower
01/25/2006 09:38:23 AM
Very pretty, but doesn't meet challenge criteria. No insects.
01/25/2006 03:37:55 AM
very nice, love the out of focus lavender in the back. would like to have seen more focus on the butterfly
01/25/2006 03:23:20 AM
nice shot, love the colors but insects were excluded in the challenge details so this dnmc
01/25/2006 01:42:14 AM
"For the purpose of this challenge, "wildlife" should be considered non-domesticated mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians"
01/25/2006 12:59:30 AM
Amazing capture! My only complaing is that the whole lavender stem is focused except for the very top. Otherwise, this is a beautiful image. :)
