I just got my super flash today. I have never used one, so I'm a bit afraid of it and need some advise from people. I got a lumniquest soft panel and some cool colored filters also. And a couple of little slave flashes that didn't go off when my main flash went off. They have these little cords. Should they be connected to something?

That was my first picture with the flash and soft panel. Thanks Gordon for the information about showing the thumb!
What's your best advise about using a flash?
