I was processing this one yesterday and noticed something very strange :-) Can you find it? Image is HDR from a single exposure, and tone mapped, so whatever's in there was "real" and is not an artifact of multi-image merging.

Ok, that's kinda creepy. Right before bed time too! Are you gonna go back and check it out? |

Weird stuff - took me all of about 15 seconds to spot him! I shan't point out exactly where the ghostly apparition is so as not to spoil everyone's fun. |

It's a child face, (a boy face) and so clear.....
I think you have something very special here Robert, and I hope you feel the same way so as to keep that wonderful expressiom there forever.

Is he visible in the original unprocessed image?
I reckon you need to go there again and take some more shots to see if it happens again. : ) |

He's there in the original. Look:
I shot this scene with 5 separate exposures, so I could do HDRI on it. None of the other exposures show the face. The "finished" image I posted first is a quasi-HDR made from RAW variations of the same exposure, just to preserve the face. In the true-HDRI version made from the 5 separate exposures, the face is disintegrating but still somewhat visible.
It seems to be an artifact of the ripples and the light refraction. Or perhaps someone drowned there once? I donno. Eerie :-)
R.
ETA: Particularly amazing, to me, is that it isn't just a face; it seems to be a full head, with hair, kind of a pompadour hairdo...

I don't see that. Where, exactly? Stranger and stranger.

look at the far right and then the "supposedly reflection of the trees in the water" it just does not match up with the actual trees, when you said something eerie at the begining i thought you were refering to this
there

Spooky, you need to ask Sylvia Browne or someone like that. :-)
I couldn't see it until someone mentioned 'the boy' and sure enough... |

There is a corresponding light patch of the cloud, above and slightly to the left of the image in the water - maybe an angel! (although without the interaction with the gravel, the idea of a face is lost)

I saw the face right away before reading what others saw. Although I see it as a ladies face and she is lying in a bathtub with her head hanging over the foot end of the tub and her leg sticking up a little at the other end...
Interesting.

Hahaha! You'll do ANYTHING to force a skiff into my shots. That's a skiff, not a bathtub, doofus!

Very cool shot, and a lovely HDR. As far as the face goes, I tend to think it's more a combination of ripples and light that has enough face elements for our brains to fill in the rest and scream, "Hey, face!" The human brain is wired to detect faces, it's one of our truely primal, built in instincts. That's why we see them in clouds, TV static, water, etc.
But still one heck of a shot :-)
