I'm at such a loss for Still Life.
I have photographer's block or something. There's a big urge to do something unique and creative but I'm drawing a blank at what I should do. Anyone have ideas on how to get over this hump?
I'm looking around and can't really find anything photo-worthy either, kind of discouraging since just about anything can make a good photo if its set up right. Heh.
Maybe I'm just in a slumpy complaino mood today.
Definitely would love some tips on inspiring ideas though.
:)

Just go out and take pitchers, if you enjoy that. Don't think. Stuff happens. |

Take a look around some other sites for ideas, that always gets the old brain cells working :)

Here are a few tips on idea creation.
1 brainstorm
2 mind-map
3 do a google search
4 look in an encyclopedia, dictionary or thesaurus
Now, for an application of those to Still Life
1 brainstorm - 5 minutes - anything is fine
copy an ancient master, objects in my office, the telephone, fruit bowls, replace the fruit with some other object, a modern copy of an ancient master using objects from the modern world, juxtapose two unlikely objects - like icecream and a heater/ coffee beans and a hairdryer/ headphones and the mouth,
2 mindmap - follow thought traces - 5 minutes
still life - fruit - salad - salad days - objects from ones best time in life - a personal portrait of memorabilia - recreate an ideal time of life - idealise that time using better objects - replace a lost time with a better one - invent a new and better life - the dining table of the rich - can't afford that shot - plastic copies - the plasticisation of modern life -
3 google search
brought up many pages of art techniques - apply a (dpc-legal) filter to a standard still life? masterworks pages - with a modern slant? different media used - how about a shot of that media?
4 encylcopedia, dictionary and thesaurus
(wordweb)"A painting of inanimate objects such as fruit or flowers"
any inanimate object could be fine - there's a wide open subject if I ever saw one.
As I had already decided on my entry idea before writing this reply, this wasn't designed to help me: just to compete with Seusen's anti-cognitive approach. And it's fun.

When I think I'm in a slump or uninspired, I just start shooting. Works every time...
