I̢۪m looking for a solution to carrying my camera equipment around.
1 body, a couple of lenses, usual knickknacks, and a medium/light weight tripod.
I guess I̢۪d describe myself as a landscape / opportunist photographer.
I’m pretty sold on the idea of a Slingshot Backpack – but I havn’t come across a suitable solution for carrying a tripod yet.
Ideally I’d like something that ‘strapped’ snugly to my back, leaving my hands free, with a quick-release buckle. Over the shoulder type bags exert a life of their own, I don’t want to have to keep juggling with it to keep it on my shoulder.
Of course I never actually use a tripod. In accordance with Sod̢۪s Law I only need to use a tripod when I havn̢۪t brought one with me. If I decide to bring one with me there̢۪s never a call to use it. However, in order for me to continue never having to need to use one, I need to find a method to conveniently carry one.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you thought about downsizing? I got a tripod for Christmas that expands to about 4' and collapses to about 12" I think The Husband got it at Wal-Mart... it fits right into my camera bag (and I have a tiny camera bag) It was around 25 bucks or so...

My Tamrac Cyberpack 8 has straps for carrying tripod/monopods. Look into that one.

Using a tripod will make you a better photographer, especially with landscapes.

 TCGuru - That sounds ideal for the casual outing when you really want to keep gear to a minimum – a lightweight tripod is way better than no tripod at all.
 MrEd – Thanks – I’ll check it out.
Jmsetzler - Using a tripod will make you a better photographerâ€Â¦ If it will help me take a better photograph I’ll be happy enough – I believe making me a better photographer would involve meeting the devil at the crossroads and selling my soul or some suchâ€Â¦ :-)
