I keep getting comments suggesting that my 'Alone' subject may be too difficult to discern, or is too far away.

Well, I hate to sound condescending but, if I take a macro or close-up shot of my lonely subject, where is the context to suggest it is alone?! Please, people - apply some lateral thought and stop looking for detail that is not important to the shot.

There - I feel better now!

And that is what I've been getting. " It should have been croped closer.". Or the scene is not pretty...... THATS WHY THE SUBJECT FEELS ISOLATED! Now I got that off my chest.

Look for my entry alone at the bottom tonight ;)

I wish that I had entered these:

B&W Version.

Color version.

My dad (a former teacher) used to challenge a "bored" kid to name something uninteresting.
"You know," he'd say, "that's the only thing in the whole world that isn't interesting -- isn't THAT interesting?"

Unfortunately I took it about 2 weeks ago. Went back to recreate it and the weather just didn't cooperate. Fog at the beach. Of course this week it's been almost 100 degrees. Oh well.

I especially like the comment 'It's too hard to make out the pidgeon' - !!! Well I liked your photo John - it got a 7 from me and would have gone higher if I'd ever managed to vote n everything and go back over them to organise the top end of my voting.

I do feel for you, Jon. This was my entry. It seems we suffered the same syndrome. ;-)
