I am ne to photography I have a D-50 and I would like to know if photos have a timestamp imbeded in them. I know that the time and date is right in my camera, but how do the judges know? Thanks, Jon

Yes, they are stored in the Exif data which is part of the digital file.

It is in the EXIF data.

yes, if you have the time and date right in the camera and you keep the original file (not altered), the stamp will be there and it can be validated if necessary.

Yes it is embedded in the photo known as EXIF.
Depending how you post though this information can be striped away or even modified. Though, I do not believe you can do this in RAW format that is one of the reasons that ask for the RAW file I believe. I guess if there is a will there is a way though.

Other things embedded in the image include focal length, aperture, shutter speed and much more...
