Just a little background:
Last night I was flipping channels and hit ESPN2. On TV was the Arm Wrestling Championships. It made me think of a kid (he's 38 now) back in the mid/late 80's named Jason Vale who used to manage a pool hall we played in. He was one of the top arm wrestlers in the country (he was only 17-18, 2 years younger than me) at the time. I also remember him being a devout Catholic and someone told me (though I never asked him) he had some type of cancer. According to the article I read, it was terminal. He used to teach us how to arm wrestle and even entered me in the NJ State Championships (I won my first 3 matches before hurting my arm).

Anyway, I wondered what happened to him and I did a Google search and found, to my SHOCK, what happened since then. You can read all the details here. The legal troubles he ran into, I will admit, were his own fault. Whether you believe he believes the remedy works or he's a scam artist isn't the issue (you can't deny it, he is still alive). But, all this, as stated in every article I read, were brought...not by any customers complaint of a scam...but, by the FDA on their own.

It made me think and ask.....my question to you:

Do you believe there are natural cures, used by other societies, that could replace the 'normal' methods we use to cure cancer, diseases, the everyday cold, flu etc? It also made me think....just imagine the thousands...tens/hundreds of thousands...of jobs that would be lost if there actually were natural cures.....

I don't think alot of people will loose their jobs, it's a whole lot easier to go to a drugstore then to go out in the forest looking for valeria when you are having trouble sleeping.

yes, absolutely

I think traditional medicine is "traditional" because they have political power. The FDA, and the AMA are hell bent on closing down any form of competition to the established way.

And it seems to be working so well - for those who are making the money.

I have a client that is a homeopathic solutions provider. The testimonials that come across my desk from that company from the doctors and patients that use these things are making me a believer.

There are other ways.

That having been said - there are a lot of people out there that will prey on the desperate - the FDA does have it's place

Yes. I think there are many naural products that have an ability to help people. In this country, however, because of the way the patent system is set up, you will never see a mainstream pharmadeutical company sell natural products. To get a patent, they have to create something unique. In the article it is mentioned that there are synthetic versions of Laetrile. Synthetic versions often don't work as well as natural, but it is the only way the drug company can produce, market and stop others from taking away their market. It is all about the patent and the profit.
