How about occasional challenges that offer free membership or year renewals as prizes ?

Maybe the prizes could be 'gifted' if the winner didn't want to use it or had just renewed.

Whoohoo, that'd be motivating! :) I like it.

I think this is a good idea, if I´d be so lucky to win one I would definately give the membership to someone who has trouble becoming a member :)

That sounds like a decent idea to me.

I like the idea, but my guess is that prizes with monetary value enter the picture will open up a huge can of worms in terms of legality, terms of service, voting, age (i.e. under/over 18), and city/county/state/country of legal residence.

Nice thought, but that would motivate folks to cheat even more than some already do.

there are several reasons dpc doesn't offer prizes. the main ones have already been stated.

legal issues -- not just in the states, but I am sure there is legislation about international prizes.

cheating -- we get a lot of *paranoia* and conspiracy theories as it is (some founded, others not). and that is just for a few colored pixels. i would hate to think what some people might do for something of value.

Yeah that would be cool but would probably make things caotic for the SC.

Anyone thought of some sort of secret santa give away? Find a registered user that you feel should be a member and pay to have their account updated for xmas with out another word mentioned? Is that legal? I doubt any one would complain if it happened to them.

I bet it would be a nice surprise for someone to wake up Xmas morning and log on to find an update button on their DPC home page...

I probably couldn't afford to give one this year because Xmas has already tapped me out for the season. We are looking forward to tax returns already. However I am sure some of you can and or would want to..
