It will probably not be visible here in NM, since they will be below the horizon until about 6:20am or so. I checked with my Starry Nights program, and copied the image to show what to look for. In this area they will be to the east southeast. Jupiter is the lower of the two bright spots on the left, with Mercury just above. Mars is the bright spot directly to the right.

Some other upcoming astronomy events:
Tonight: Moon and Saturn pass close to each other
Wednesday/Thursday: Geminid meteor shower (right overhead about midnight)
March, 2007: Total Lunar eclipse (not visible in western US); there will be another Lunar eclipse in August. |

There are some pics on the main page at this time to see what to look for.

Equally cool, I just watched the Shuttle take off and could clearly see 2 full stages burn from my front yard! Awesome!! I'll never miss a night flight again!

VERY cool Cinci! I was just working the sector just north of Myrtle Beach, SC and had 5 or 6 aircraft at 36,000 feet and higher that reported being able to see it too!
BTW, did you get any pics? |

No, this was the first time I've watched a night launch, I never imagined it would have been SO visable! It dominated the sky here. Cameras for sure next time!
