I have had so much trouble with drivers and software since I got Windows XP pro 64 bit not yet supporting this platform and now I purchase Photoshop CS2 that is suppose to work on windows XP or later and the Adobe support says it's not supported.
My question is is anyone using PS CS2 with Win XP pro 64 bit successfully or do I simply return it for a refund? (I haven't opened the box yet so I can return it)
Adobe support also said that none of their products support a 64 bit operating system at the moment! :(
Thanks in advance |

We've got CS2 running fine on one of our (well, chiqui's) XP64 PC, no problems. However, most screen calibration tools (eg colorvision's range) don't have 64bit support yet, so you'll probably have to do that by hand.

Well 32 bit aplications are designed to run on XP x64 but there are limits. Right clikc on the shortcut to the program look for the compatability tab try to run it in another compatability mode.
With windows Vista x64 coming out in about 3 months what on earth drove you to buy a dead os.... sorry its just well known that XP x64 isnt supported and drivers are easier to find for Vista RC1 which is pretty hard i might add.
I have no clue what microsofts plans are but at the moment i havent seen any development on XP x64 in most reviews its rated as not ready for users so ive avoided it been dualbooting XP and Vista RC1.
If you wish to keep the XP x64 id start looking on how to dual boot it with XP x86 |

The Queensland Government decided that us teachers do a lot of work from home so they would offer us highly discounted software, this happened at the time Win XP was telling me that my OS was not a valid copy so I decided I would take up the offer. my bad!
I downloaded the free trial os PSCS2 and it worked fine so I installed PSCS2 and it seems to run fine! I was worried that it would not work and I would not be able to get a refund once the packageing was opened.
Thanks for your help. |

64 bit driver support is pretty bad across the board. Same problems on linux. You'd be better off running the 32bit version of the OS. Small performance penalty, big compatibility increase.
I run 64 & 32 bit linux installs at home for this reason alone. Where I work right now, everything is 64 bit, windows & linux and it causes a lot of pain but can't be avoided for political reasons.

I know of 15 Magazine Articles saying "Not ready for end user"
XP 64 is actually stripped down compared to whats included in regular XP Pro, and seeing as how last time i checked Flash doesnt work in the 64 bit IE....
But i dunno does IE 7 have a 64 bit release yet? |

Same issue with flash on 64 bit unix. There are some hoops you can jump through, but it is a pain. 64 bit support is spotty all over the place.

Come on man. It's twice as efficient in getting your machine owned. How is that not a feature. |
