This isn't so much a story about photography, but rather a story of hope
and faith, and wanted to share this, as it truly was an amazing afternoon.
Tanisha, is a customer of mine, and had not been here in about a year and a half. She was one of those people you meet in life that you just have a soft spot for, as their life must be hell. Tanisha, a year and a half ago, had a lot of difficulty doing simple things like clear & cognizant speech. She had seizures often, was introverted, had moments of having a completely lost look in her eyes like she didn't know where she was. Tanisha was battling MS and another ailment in the neurological area that I couldn't even pronounce, nor remember. I remember talking to her Mom, and her Mom said she had a very rough and difficult time functioning in her life.
Today, Tanisha walked in the office, and there was an aura around her. She was glowing. Her face was alive. She wasn't introverted, made eye contact, and was on top of the world. This took all of about 2 minutes to put together and I was absolutely without words at the transformation of this early 20's young lady.
Tanisha got married, had a daughter 13 months ago, and says she has beat MS and the other afliction. She took control of her life and crawled back up and on top the world. She is truly alive and a completely different person. I am still astounded and can't for the life of me, remember what it was she did to beat her demons.
She was looking at some pics in the office and one thing led to another and I asked her if I could take a few shots of her. I told her I hadn't seen so much life and glow in someone in a long time. We wander out in the parking lot, trying to figure out where to snap off a few shots in an impromptu shoot. Heck, I've never done this before, and neither had she.
Tanisha was an absolute natural, and made my first informal portrait shoot a breeze.
Meet Tanisha:
(feel free to meet her, no need to feel like this is a "hey - comment on my pics" thing)
She only saw the originals, uncropped, as they came off the CF card and was nearly in tears of happiness, as no one had ever done any portraits for her. I have 8x10 edits (3150x2550 pixel 300dpi) edits as well as 700 & 800 wide/tall versions for her already, on CD, for her.
She will be coming in on Thurday for some work on her car and I will find out more details as to her amazing journey back.
Was a pretty special day...

That's likely because the demons don't want you to remember. ;-)
Seriously though, great story, but you need to ask her again what she attributes this to and post it. |

Thanks all.
Maybe I should have included a pic of an Octopus or somethin...
Actually, just like Television, people aren't all that interested in good news or heart-warming stories in life, but boy oh boy get some gossip going and we have a whole different ball game. Sorry for the bother. |

As requested, this is what made it all happen: Neuromodulation
Just spent about an hour talking to her today after fixing her Camry, and what a joy it is to talk to someone so in love with life.
She asked if I could take some pictures of her daughter, and she will be stopping by tomorrow. |

Stories like this one beat the heck out of gossip about starlets and politicians any day. Thank you so much for sharing this, and ask Tanisha if she'd mind if we got to see pictures of her and her daughter, too. And tell her she's beautiful! |

Its funny. With all the challenges on this site and with us all on the hunt for "the" picture its always those unexpected, unplanned, unstaged shots that really remind us whats important in photography. More important than lighting, composition, color, contrast and everything else.
In a word?

Tanisha was speechless today when I gave her the CD with all the edited pics.
Of all the shots, this was instantly her favorite:
This is the one that I can see most, hanging in a nice frame, in her home.

Brad, I have been following this thread, and to me, you are a very special warm hearted man.
It was, and is, a very inspirational story, and thank you for sharing it with us.
Out of it, you shared some wonderful Xmas spirit and a "bonus" of a new friend, and some wonderful images as well.
You are just "TOPS" in my book, and thank you so very much, for being you.
