Well, again, I borrowed my friend's Canon 85mm f1.8 and tested it against my Tokina 100mm f2.8 ATX ProD macro lens. I shot in RAW, no UV filter, hoods placed, and with shutter speed high enough to prevent camera shake. I converted to JPEG in DPP with neutral picture style.
First thing I noticed is that the toke has noticably more contrast and the Canon has noticably more CA. I think the toke is a bit sharper, but nothing normal processing couldn't compensate for.
comments welcome.

What was the purpose of the comparison ? You seem to have shot different focal lengths at different apertures.
You might get on better shooting them at similar apertures to be able to draw some conclusions, though even with different focal lengths that'll still be a factor. It'd be worth trying them wide open (though at least at f1.8 the depth of field will be an issue, depending on subject distance. That's likely part of the softness you are seeing for example, but also shoot them both at f8 around their sweet spots.
They mostly seem underexposed too, at least the unlit window frame shots look that way - which doesn't help evaluate sharpness/ quality.

I shot both at a stop of exposure, so starting at f2.8 you'll see the Canon then the tokina. I didn't change my position and didn't zoom with my feet with the Canon as I'm not interested solely in the resolution. The shots were in Eval Metering without any EC, so that is to show how the camera meters with each lens.
I've never used the Canon 85mm before and was gonna test it against my 70-200 but thought it'd be better to test it against another mid range telephoto prime.
