I believe the Digital Millennium Copyright Act would come into play if Dan wanted to push the issue of his images. All he would have to do is write a letter to the ISP that hosts DPC and tell them that DPC no longer has permission to host his copyrighted images, and they would take DPC down until they were removed or DPC responded willing to testify under penalty of purgery that they do not feel they have infringed on Dan's rights. Even then, the site could still be down for the couple weeks this happens.

A couple of things I see, since Dan says he will no longer be a member, TOS no longer apply to him and since nothing was agreed to in writing, any agreement that over rides his legal copyright would probably not stand up in court. At that point I guess it comes down to how much money each side had to spend on a lawyer. If Dan happens to have his images registered in the US, then it could end up costing DPC if they lost.

Since I'm going into my 4th copyright infringement of my images, I'm very sensitive to a person's legal rights when it comes to our images. I'm also getting ready to send a letter next weeks to the ISP of the person that has my images on her web site to have them shut her web site down. It's ironic that I'm making more money from copyright infringement than I do selling my images.

Mike

Why is it that so many forget we are all guests here and being that it is not our site, are subject to the terms and conditions set forth by the owners of this site. The Site Council members have a tough job to do and have been empowered by the owners of this site to make judgement calls when conditions arise.

The Site Council members are subject to being human and making human errors, but the bottom line is that we should be supportive of them and appreciate the time they donate to try and keep this place on a level keel.

I'm not implying in any way that mistakes were made, nor am I taking sides, but right or wrong, the Site Council members are acting in the site owner's absence and should be given the same respect and lattitude had it been the owners of the site.

Members here don't have the right to jump up & down, name call, threaten or publically insult others, Site Council members especially, without a price to pay, even if it means such as small price such as being censored.

We are just guests in someone else's house.

how about looking at domestic sources, not wikipedia or CIA ?

saleslisting from a local cardealer

saleslisting from a local realestate agent, just divide the price (Verð) by approx 70, 1$ = 70 ISK

so I wouldn't say I was very far from the truth, would you ?

and this was just the first search results I found on the first page I visited. there are dozens of similar pages.

Do not bait or provoke other users. This does not promote civil discussion and will not be tolerated.

I'm not taking sides here, just throwing this out as a reminder. Some could argue that Dan was indeed baited and provoked. Others might argue that he wasn't.
