Greetings...

I ran into Gary Moyer (scab-lab) over on Flickr the other day and he's building a group that could be really interesting. The purpose is to trade photographer trading cards. These cards are designed as 2.5" x 3.5" cards, like baseball cards, with a print and photographer information on the cards. The group is just getting started, so trading should be fairly easy... I thought it would be fun to see how many cards I could collect from photographers all over the world..

If you would like to check out the group, follow this link to it's Flickr base:

John - Cool idea. I checked it out and it looks like a lot of fun. I guess I'll try a free membership and give it a go.

Thanks for sharing !

John , that's really nice !
So basically , it's like a photo with some text but I've noticed that there's not an "official" size for them , of course I'm maybe wrong ...

I just have joined the group , I'll work on this tomorrow .

I don't think I am deserving of my own trading card, but I just made some cards of my daughter (she's into Pokemon).

The official size is 2.5" x 3.5". it's listed in the group on the main page...

OK - I just joined up but dont have any cards up yet. What type paper is everyone printing on? Is it just regular photo paper? And do you send in sleeves already or take care of that yourself when you recieve them? I am guessing these questions are probably answered on the website, so back there I go...

Scab-Lab rules. I bought the book he contributed with other toy camera photographers.

Welcome Tim! I have used mpix thus far to do my cards, and I am pleased. They run about 50¢ each, but photo paper works fine, too. I may even try some card stock at home for my next sets. We'll see.

Interesting. But isn't this kind of quaint, old fashioned, or 20th century? Actually mailing the physical card around the world. I'm involved in amateur radio and it's rapidly changing over to electronic QSL cards. (trading cards proving contact with countries and people)

Wanna know something even MORE "quaint" and "old fashioned"? Sometimes...I, yes me, Eric......still shoot with film. There, I said it.

Anyway, I look at it as a neat way to get some really cool prints on a very small canvas. No so much to brag of worldly contact, but to have a little piece of what other great photogs are making.

Eric
