Okay.. I go through this before every challenge starts. I'm nervous about my "basic editing."
Is Tone Balance under Color Balance legal? Where you can adjust the shadows, midtones, and highlights over the whole image?
I was confident that it was legal when I did it, but now that the end is drawing near I'm scared. I'm leaving for work soon, and I'm not sure how quick the admins would get back to me. I just need some people to tell me it's all going to be okay..
Signed,
Freakin da hell out.. |

As long as you applied it evenly to the entire image, you shouldn't have a problem.

Here's a basic editing legality test...if you select something in a photo (other than for cropping) and do some processing on that selection, it is illegal.

Pre-deadline mindframe: I'm not selecting anything with the select tool. It's the whole image.
Deadline mindframe: I'm clicking on the little radio button that says "shadows" which is selecting the shadows over the whole image. But Hue/Sat is legal and you can pick colors.. hmmmm
Hmmm.. Ahhhhhh! ........ hmmmmm
Ahhhhhh! |

There are a lot of legal tools that work with highlights, midtones and shadows (levels being one of them). Here's the ultimate test: Does it add an effect or is it being used to correct image integrety? If it's adding an effect, it may be deemed illegal. If it's correcting something, it's likely legal.
