I just read the description on the next Member Challenge.

Okay, I'm gonna need some help on this one. I'm just not into movies, so except for what I've picked up in reading, I really don't know much about Bond, James Bond. (I know an Aston Martin was involved somewhere)

I looked at the thread on the subject but didn't see much there that might help. I'll try Google, but any general ideas on the subject would be gratefully received!

Yeah - it's going to be tough. Nice cars, guns, scantilly clad women... none of which are that easy to come by, nor are they that easy to photograph.

My light on white is doing a little better. I hope it keeps eeking up. =) But there were a couple other shots in it like mine, which is always a bit of a bummer. But of them, mine is definitely best, which is as good as one can hope!

I have no idea what to do about the Bond challenge either - unless I get some inspiration I'm afrai I'm going to skip it and hope for something better to come up in the open challenges. We will know about that tomorrow :)

I'm at 5.87 in "Light on white", so it's still rising (but slow)...

I was a big Bond fan when I was younger but challenges like this either have to look "commercial" or be really clever to score well. Mucho effort required - It stinks as a challenge for me too - there's really nothing specific "bond" that I can think of that would work well :( boo hoo.

PS: sorry I didn't enter in light-on-white but i'll be diagonalizing I believe.

Okay, gang. After moaning and groaning about knowing nothing about these films, I had an inspiration, and my entry is #3.

And if I can do it, anybody can do it.

Wikipedia was definitely my friend in this one. I think I looked under "James Bond Movie Plot Lines" for clues.

Sorry I've been MIA for a while...While on break I put some of my Butte photos on a town forum thing and a lady wants me to put some stuff up in her business to sell for the Christmas stroll...which is this coming Friday....so I've been crazy busy...I didn't get a light on white in but I will do the diaganol one!

Lisa - congratulations on your forthcoming sales opportunity. It's a super opportunity and I hope you do well.

Christmas stroll... I remember from your Postcard entry, seeing a bit of snow on the ground. Are you likely to have a white Christmas up your way?

Yes, a VERY white Christmas. I'm actually in Idaho right now for school, then have to drive back to Butte for the stroll. (a 5-7 hour drive depending on the snow...ugh) on Thursday. There's a ton of snow righ tnow in Montana and Idaho...well I guess not a TON but there was barely any and then in the past two days (ofcourse the day I had to drive back to Idaho) it snowed like crazy.

I have now self-DQ'ed in "Perspective" as I mentioned I would (Wasn't doing very well anyway - around 5.5).

I have submitted my entry to "Diagonal" - I'm quite pleased with the picture myself, but I'm not really sure how the DPC crowd will look at it...

And my "Light on White" is now at 5.90 :)

...and good luck on your "Bond" entry Alice - I still don't think I'm going to do that, but maybe I should give Wikipedia a try like you did.

I'm Diagonal!!! :)))))))) Good luck to all of you.

Yay! I finally entered my diagonal one!

Oh, question, does the free study count for the WPL?

Looks as if we are all in for Diagonal! Let the "tilt" begin.
No, only the Member and the Open Challenges are in the WPL schedule. None of the special Challenges count. But they are still nice to do.

No - the WPL schedule says which challenges count.

I dropped in a diagonal because my L-on-W score is so-so, but I'm not really excited about this one, so I expect around a 4.5; I've decided I don't care anymore. Drama, drama, drama... =)

I see three of us stayed in the Perspective Challenge, and thankfully, I managed to maintain my nice 6.56 Perspective score making up for my not-so-good Postcard entry. That means we have four scores above six for the WPL. Always a good thing.

On to Life, Death, and Light on White. I'm gonna have to pin my hopes on Life or Death, 'cause L on W is sedately sashaying along at 5.24.

Haha, in two votes my score went from 5.33 to 6.6.

I'm not sure if I expect it to stay that high though. My entry did meet the challenge, but could have been a lot more dynamic.

Lisa - good for you. Nice start. I guess we're the only two in a part of the country with time zones that make it reasonable to be up at this hour. I'm also off to a fairly good start with a 6.6 after 5 votes. Lets see if we can keep it up!
11/29/2006 01:12:53 AM · #315
Yeah, I've kind of noticed that usually when I post at night most other people don't...then after I get out of class it's like there are a MILLION new posts! Oh well what can you do. I'm also a late nighter/sleeper inner. And I'll be up late tonight studying for a final I have tommorow in a class.

I hope we keep up our good scores! I briefly looked at the first three or so pages of entries, and I was kind of "underwhelmed" if you will. There are some really great images, but not as many as I've seen in other challenges. Maybe it's just cuz I didn't look any larger than the thumbnails though. I guess we'll see!

Yes, all those 6.60 numbers sure went south in a hurry...at least my commenter liked it.

Wow:

My LoW score is becoming static around 5.5, and I love the shot.

And my so-so diagonal shot I entered on a whim is at 6.37 after 35 votes. Oh, the harsh irony of DPC. But, what do I care - I'm looking at a potential personal best! =)

Diagonal: 5.3750
Light on White: 5.9286

Who knows: I might end up with a score that actually counts in WPS this week (for a change) :-)

(But you guys are probably going to beat me before the week is over)
