I just had my poor old notebook blow up on me, so am about to get a new (second hand) notebook.

I am split between a 1ghz powerbook and 2.4ghz compaq, both with a gig of ram.

if theres anything like photoshop that runs on linux (The Gimp is no good, and photoshop doesn't run in wine).
if there is, I'll go the compaq cos its cheaper, if not I'll go the mac put MOL on it.

anyone know of anything?

Can you elaborate on this? While the GIMP is certainly not at the level of photoshot, I find that it offers much more features than I can actually master. Are you using a high enough version of the GIMP (1.3 or higher) ?

Disney seem to disagreePhotoshop in Wine. Though GIMP pretty much does everything I've tried to do in photoshop as well.

I have to agree with Gordon and ccjp.

I've been using The Gimp for well on 3 years now and it's done everything I've wanted to do and more. Especially for the kinds of photos that will get submitted here ;).

yeh, I prolly didn;t use the right words..
The gimp does the job, but I have used photoshop exclusively since version 5, and am very quick and fluent with it, which I'm not in gimp..

I wasn't aware there was a 1.3.21 gimp (was running 1.2.4)
am emerging the new one now and will see what I think.

I have not used crossover office either, but will also have a look at that aswell.

EDIT: Crossover office lets photoshop run excellent..
I had no idea what it was, and had never looked..
Thanks gordon ;)
