If you want to understand the performance of one of the major stock agencies, iStock, read this report to investors.

Its a report to investors of Getty, of which istock is a tiny piece. $198 million in sales in third quarter - 2.5 million downloads from Istock - pretty amazing numbers

thats pretty cool, its reassuring to know that istock is going to be a big priority for getty next year.

It better be, because they are seriously effin' up right now... that keywording BS has about made me decide to drop thier non-performing asses.

Sorry to hear that Jim, October is looking to be almost 50% better than my previous best month which was September. Im now in the top 50 for all time sales on istock (number 49 based on the unofficial diamond list) and somewhere in the top 10 for weekly sales. My goal right now is to be making $10,000 a month within the next year so needless to say the fact that istock is increasing exponentially and getty is aiming to take it from less than 1% (2.5million sales x 50% commisions = 1.25million... divided by 200million) of its total revenue to 10% eventually is very exctiting to read.

I think the key word change must have been especially painful for people with lots of images already up - but for me a mere starter, I went in at just the right time and I think the change has enhanced sales. No pain no gain, perhaps. Accurately selecting key words in order to get maximum sales of an image is an art. Some are better at it than others.

I think the report tells us something about the industry as a whole - as well as what is happening at Getty and how well iStock is performing compared to rights managed traditional stock.
