I will be in Gatlinburg Nov 4th - 6th if anybody wants to have a GTG. I would think Cades Cove would have some great fall pictures.
Let me know if anybody will be down there at the date.

We're busy those days, so we can't.
There *might* be some color left, but I doubt it. At the highest elevation along the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC, a lot of the leaves were already gone last weekend. This weekend, seems to be pretty close to the peak for the Asheville/Maggie Valley, NC area , and those elevations are similar to the G-b, PF area. Sorry. The past couple of years the peak hasn't been until the end of October, but they turned earlier this year. |

Ok, thanks for the info! I wanted to go down earlier but I couldn't get off from work :-(.

I live in the area...can't make it to a GTG though, going to a car show in NC, but there should be some color left for you in November. Things are just starting to look pretty now...still lots of green, peak color is a little ways off, at least here in the foothills and around Townsend it is...probably next weekend. Things are a little ahead towards Gatlinburg. Not sure about the Cove though, I keep meaning to get there but it keeps on raining. The Cove was shut down for most of last week due to wind damage as was alot of the park...100 mph winds wreaked some serious havoc. The days that haven't been rainy have been absolutely gorgeous. Fall really is the best time to visit the area.
If you have time, drive the Foothills Parkway off of Rt. 321, there are some great views from up there. I go up there all the time. Cades Cove is great fully leafed out or not...I actually love going there in the winter...it's a beautiful place. Be prepared to do alot of sitting in traffic though, it's a busy area on the weekends. On Sundays till noon it is closed to cars but you can bike or hike it. Enjoy your trip! |
