Comes in at 2934.75 plus you'd have to pay shipping. That's at B&H. |
IIRC, you'll also need a tripod head, the 3021 is just the legs of the tripod.

I think that is way to much money for a newbie to DSLR's Forget about the Sugma 70-200 for now. |
If you have 3000 to spend why buy the cheaper lenses only to decide that a 2.8 is better and have to go through the hassle of either selling your original lens or spending out even more money on the better lens in the end?

You can get a 'kit' one at B&H with the 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head as well.

I would agree. if you ahve the money and know you want to spend it on camera gear then get better lenses first vs more cheaper lenses. |

The only reason I suggested this is because what if she buys all this then a month later realizes she like the P&S route better? I am thinking of selling all my shit anyway so don't listen to me.

Thanks all for responding. I think that after reading what folks have to say here, I should get the D80 body with the kit, which runs about $1300 on average according to Pricegrabber, the tripod and the software, play with it for awhile, and set the lens budget aside for later. Maybe I'll be able to snag Cutter for some real life guidance and instruction when the time comes. Unfortunately, no word on if/when the tooth fairy is coming to visit.

Glad you decided to set the money aside for now. After you use it for a while then you will now better what your lens needs are.
