Every once in a while, an image stirs my soul deep.

Wanted to toss jdannels' Riding High image here on the front page,
as it is one of those absolute perfect moments in life, captured and
frozen forever, and now one of my all-time favorite shots on DPC.

Was screaming for B&W conversion:

Joe - put this one in your portfolio - doesn't belong in mine...

This is sweet and the BW convert works well.

Yep, I love that photo too. It has such a fantastic feeling to it. This is what photographery is all about, for me anyways. Getting those little moments that you know you'll want to look back on and have those same feelings come rushing back, those moments that spark something inside.

Very nice conversion too, Brad. Looks lovely in B&W. :)

I would totally agree with you Brad, Joe has one hell of an eye. He's always bringing pleasant images to challenges and to this site. The b/w does work well but the color holds it own just as well IMHO. He nailed that shot perfectly.

I love the edit you did to an already fantastic shot... agreed it was crying to be converted :)

**edit to add a word** lol

When you have moments in your life where you feel you are about to meet your maker, images like this have a much more powerful and meaningful impact. However, the photographer within you leaps out suggesting small ways to improve it. ;)

Wow Brad, I really can't explain what this little gesture means to me. I literally walked into the door as I was supposed to meet someone for a photo op at a coffee shop for the college paper which I am now the photo editor, but misread the photo request and was 3 and a half hours early, oops :). Came to check in and "update button"(used as a verb ;) and look through threads and saw this one and opened the thread and was shocked and touched. Got abit reflective about what I have learned directly from this site. I didn't really start getting involved until around february of this year even though I registered a couple years earlier. Even 8 months ago I had only thought of photography as a hobby and now trying to expand it into a job or atleast sidework in some form. Brad I am so touched.
Ok sappiness is time is over. :)
I also decided abit spontaneously in the last 20 min or so that without DPC I probably wouldn't be where I am today and that I want to send this forward I have decided to give away a year free membership!! I have been working a ton and have alittle extra cash in the bank. And bradp since you started all this in motion I would like to have you pick who ever you want, however you want, to receive this membership. You can PM if you would like but basically, just pick someone and I'll do a gift certificate or buy it for them, however you do it.
This place has taught me alot. Thanks everyone and Brad, thank you especially.
Edit: I think the spelling changes once you hit post... Oh and all feel free to edit my photos :)

This is what this place should be about. I'm so proud to be your teammate Joe! :)

And Brad, well, you're just special and I hope you stick around here for a very long time. ;-)

You did fine - the thanks is all mine though.

At times, some of the best stuff gets buried and never gets a second look.
Some pictures just sit on a page and look nice.
Some pictures speak to me and stir the soul.
Yours was that and more: It's life.

Your click of the shutter made and will make a difference in a person's life, forever.
Imagine 50-75 years from now when we are gone, this image will live on as a reminder to that very day she was on those shoulders. (I'm assuming that is her Dad) imagine for a moment something happens to her Dad. Imagine no one had taken time to click the shutter. Your image is a stunning example of what photography is really all about - a testament to the time we spend on this planet and the memories that make us feel good and smile inside & out.

I can think of no greater gift you could ever to give that family this Christmas - a lifetime of smiles & happy memories.

Now, damn you! Pick someone to receive your generosity????
(which by the way, applaud you for doing this)

I can't.

I can however offer a few names to this and welcome members to help out here with suggestions.
Here are few members I can think of, in no particular order:
shabbychic
rebs138
LoudDog
M.O.C.
