I don't know what I'll be able to get for Street Photography. We're supposed to get a load of snow again tonight.
I wish they would have a challenge titled "Snow" or "Winter" for the people in the northern states. Snow does not do well in regular challenges. People mistake it for blown highlights. |

The rules for the WPL state that no substitutions are allowed once the season has started, but you're more than welcome to join in the chat in the thread! :) |
That's what I figured, thanks anyway! On a different note, I was planning to do the street photography challenge today, but then it got foggy/snowy... Hopefully it'll clear up soon :-) |

Well I just got asked to have my photo checked out. I live on the edge of the rules(not in a bad way, I just like a certian flavor of image) anyway I would say I have a 50/50 shot of being dq'd. I get that from the fact that they let me do it once, but didn't another time. We will see.
Funny part is that my score sucked anyway. |

I've a ton of ideas for Street Photography! I looked up Henri Cartier-Bresson and came up with some great ideas! (and he shot with a 50 mm lens!)Were expecting snow for tomorrow night (only 2-6 inches) But I don't see how this may affect my shot. But you know what they say about those who rush in......

Good luck! Any score is better than zero....

I did a snow picture for wildlife, and everybody said that the buffalo was not in it's natural enviornment because the background was pure white snow. Snow = bad score on this site for sure. |

I just looked at last weeks results, and I feel horrible that i couldn't enter. I am a bad teammate. I will try to do what I can to enter contests, but I can make no promises. I have this killer philosophy class that is kicking my butt before it has even started! |

Like I said before, don't worry about it. If you can get a shot in, great. If not, that's ok. Shit happens! |

WPL
Preliminary results from the first half of week 1... the final standings for the week will be posted after Tuesday night. He just wanted to make sure all the bugs were worked out of the page. Hopefully we have some decent scores for good/bad to help us out! Only 3 of us submitted to Personification, so there's a 0 averaged in there.

I want to share with you a real newbie mistake I made last Friday. I took a sick day from work, and my son (also a site member), and I loaded up the 4runner and headed out to the Anza Borrego Desert. It's a beautiful place a couple of hours east of San Diego. We spent all day at a gorgeous spot waiting for the perfect lighting conditions, and we both got some pretty nice shots. We were both looking to get something to enter in the Free Study Challenge for this month. When we got home, I downloaded the pictures, and was extremely pleased until I noticed that my EXIF data showed the year as 2099!!! I pulled out the ol' D50, and sure enough, somehow the date had been changed. I really have no idea how.
I e-mailed the cite council to see if I could use the photo, and they said no, that they could make no exceptions concerning EXIF data rules. I guess I could have entered my photo, and taken a chance (very remote chance) that I would finish in the top five. Anyway, I learned a hard valuable lesson, and will check my camera before heading off on the next photo trip.
I have to look on the bright side, though. I got a day off from work. I got to spend the day with my son. We spent the whole day photographing in an incredible place. It doesn't get much better than that!
Good luck to everyone in your current challenge(s).

My dad just got a dq on a 7 image for that same thing. He had it on 2006. |

I am in for the school days challenge. It is an image that doesn't usually score well here. I think I could end up anywhere from 5.5 - 5.9. Depends on what mood the voters are in when they see it. |

looking at the scores of wpl , i think we would have won if it was not for the zero, , so the importance is to submit, all of us here are capable of getting above 4.5 on our worse pic, so just submit whateve you have make sure focus, contrast and composition are good:) |

I do have a school days entry that in no way could possibly be dq'd. So I will get a score! I don't know how the public will score it however. It probably will not be a typical shot for the challenge and might not be what they are looking for. I should in all honesty get a 5 however. |

my bad entry reached 5.5 i am not very happy with the score, but considering it was a last minute entry , i guess it's ok..., if neophyte is holding with his 5.8 in the good entry, then i guess we'll have a pretty decent average and we should score our first win:)

We haven't lost!!!!! That was just the scores from personification. Those were "halftime scores" They'll figure everything after rollover tonight. Keep the faith... My good image is higher than my personification score (5.9) so they'll use that one.

With some hours left for the school days challenges, I still have no photo. I may not be able to submit to this one guys. Unless you want me to shoot a spider in the bathroom... I apologise but I had no inspiration at all...

Same here.. no ideas for the school days shots, which is probably pretty sad since I'm a teacher. Just that I don't teach biology to kindergarteners, and anything we do for music isn't really photo worthy :P But, I'm in for Fruits/Veg, and that's still at a 6.2. So, that will do for week 2 for me! :)

Nice Job Melanie !
Got one into biology as my Fruit and veg is at 5.1. I hope its not too stupid. I'm really looking forward to Street Photography as for some reason, this really appeals to me. At least we'll know how we did in the first round tonight.
