No, no, no. This is an excellent Team Suck opportunity! The less people can decide what's in the box, the more out of the box we can be! :-)

True. I may have to enter dirt in any case because I have no ideas for Life/Death.

Arguing is dumb enough, but people who don't live in North America and weren't aware of it might benefit from knowing that the word is used very differently there than in the rest of the English speaking world.

Dirt - soil, grime, filth, nasty secrets ... many meanings. I don't think it's limited to "soil". But the fact that I think that way could be the reason I'm on Team Suck. :-)

I expect that last one to drop below the magic 6, but it's still quite good and I'll take it. In fact, they're all quite good. I promise I won't let it happen again. :-)

I agree - it was educational. But I'd be careful about generalizing too much about the "rest of the English speaking world."

Just out of curiousity, are there any Suck members from Michigan?

All generalisations are dangerous, including this one. Quote attributed to Alexandre Dumas. I think.

You're quite right, of course - I use Americanisms all the time. No, some of the time. Occasionally.

I've now entered life or death with something that sucks so seriously that it's probably not even up for the struggle. But the idea. Ah, if only you knew...

Don't worry, raish you are in good company. My death photo is truly, truly worthy of team suck. I'll be lucky to pull a 4.5 on this bad boy.

I'm debating. I have one I can use for death - lukewarm reception at best - and two possibilities for life, one of which would receive a lot less than lukewarm. I'll keep contemplating....

I decided to go with 'cute' for my "Life" shot. I haven't been doing well with the regular shots I have been taking lately so I figured it was time for a change. Who knows, maybe I can even get a 5 on this shot. Wouldn't that be special?
12/05/2006 01:51:59 PM · #1563
my life shot is as weird as usual and even more!:) so it means the score will suck as nicely as ever:)
my Bond photo was a real disaster though I think it's my best shot ever:)
so I hope I'm not letting down the butterflies...

There is no "letting down" at Team Suck.

Of course there could be the occasional slight sneer if you turn in a sunset with a gorgeous nude woman drinking out of a water-droplet-covered wine glass while walking her dog, petting her cat, and pushing a stroller with an adorable kid in it. All done in vivid orange, blue and purple. Then yeah, you might get a sneer or two.

And occasionally we pull this out to remind us.

I expect comments like what?, ?, or DNMC on my life but that didn't stop me.

Yes, Bob, I can say sort of. I was raised in MI and TX and I still share a cabin in the UP with my brother and sister. I go there in July, sometimes in the Fall, and sometimes at Xmas. The rest of the time I'm in FL.

view from my bedroom window (October).

view from my sister's room (October).

another MI shot (October).

Oh Deb, you always give me a good laugh! To complete your shot above I would add a blurred waterfall.

Aw dang. Just got notified that my Bond pic got DQ'd, as I was pretty sure it would. Does this mean I get a special punishment, posthumous?

I still plan to go ahead and write the tutorial, though I guess I need to learn how to insert the thumbnail pix in it. How does a technopeasant like me do that?

But hey, it's either that or the soft cushions.

I've still got NO comments on my FS. You guys are going to have to give me some after it closes if it stays that way. LOL.

Hmm....soft cushions doesn't sound so bad...

and btw I once DID see a scene very like the one described above. I was driving along a dirt road and slowed down because I could see someone leading a horse; I would be coming up from behind them and didn't want to spook the horse, a very fat Appaloosa gelding with an understanding expression on his face. As I drew closer I could also see a dog on a leash - I think a Blue heeler or similar -, and as I passed I saw a rather grim-faced mommy pushing a baby carriage with kid in it, giving me a look just DARING me to say something. Of course I didn't, being Canadian and all, but it was such an odd sight it's stuck with me all this time!

One more questions about being DQ'd...will my pic, with all its nice comments etc, be on my page when Bond ends? And as it's no longer in the competition I guess I can reveal that it was the Octopussy! shot of my fluffy cat with an extra set of limbs. And it was getting such good marks too...*sigh*...

And if you can get all of this at Cannon Beach, you've got it made!

It will be listed in your challenge entries with a "pink" shade. The avg, place, and % will not be calculated. Sorry about that.
