I spent hours out at the BNSF yard yesterday, 5 gigs worth of shots, none of which I liked lol, several layed on the tracks, up underneath the beast, in the caboose, etc. You name it, I was on it, in it, under it and by it lol. You would think I would have gotten one shot I liked.
Edit to add, my main problem was that early and late in the day, the pictures have a red-yellow hue like the dirt in the desert and in the day they get a blue haziness to them. Because of the main line being super busy I had to shoot towards the setting sun too.

Have I mentioned lately that I love you guys? In other threads there are folks complaining about being stuck in a 6.3+ rut; some with 7's that have fallen ever so slightly; and by gawds, stop the presses, Doc may actually NOT ribbon in a challenge. (Tongue firmly in cheek, lest anyone take serious offense.)
I like coming here ever so much better.
I checked, just so I could report back:
Morning - 5.3333 (I kid you not - exactly 5.3333)
Oxymoron - 4.8 and change. Woot!

We got a real horse race, here, Deb! Granted, the horses are a little sickly... |

Saddle up - half a day later and I'm still sittin' at exactly 5.3333. With four comments, one of them yours.
Now my extremely pathetic Oxymoron... that's a whole 'nuther story. 10 comments thus far on that one, all kinda interesting, actually. Score is 4.94. Who knows - might reach 5 yet, but in a weird way, hoping not to.

My Oxymoron has the same score. I think it's my highest non-free-study yet. |

WPL punishes such shenanigans, but I think for Team Suck it is entirely appropriate. We'll just count it as if you hadn't entered that challenge.
my Morning, meanwhile, slips into suck...

And why is it that the best laid plans and all that? Had an idea I really wanted to try for the Railroad thing - perfect mornings two days in a row to go try it, but those were workday mornings. So I set the alarm and plan to get up and go try the shot before my bike ride, but what do I wake up to? Completely overcast. No break in the cloud cover at all. Sigh. Now I have flat light. What's one to do with flat light? Sigh.
Not sure if I'll get anything for that challenge or not. I'm not really considering bokeh because I truly sucked the last time I tried that, and "After the Game" - well, I'd have to find somewhere there was a game, wouldn't I? Sigh.... :-) |

Duplicate layer . . . blending mode(s) . . .

Those 12 comments are split--half think it is great, half hate it!
I am in Train (will probably suck) and After the Game (I actually like this shot, but we'll see what happens) Just waiting for Monday...

I still have no entry for any of this week's challenges. My idea for Bokeh went straight out the window due to a combination of bad weather, being on call and car shopping and the other challenges don't inspire me. So I may be on for a big fat 0 this week. |

I am now in the train thing - firmly on the wrong side of the tracks. The bad taste itself may suck enough for a dq on this one.

I just took some pics for Bokeh but they all suck and are quite boring.
Why can't I tap into my creative side anymore? Years ago I had it.
Boo. |

I opted for a boring image in trains..... I had one of a dog with rail marks up its back lying dead...... was gonna call it rail kill but figured bloated dog with backbone exposed was brown ribbon. |

There...I'm in Trains&Railroads. Now I've got to find something for Bokeh. |

I'm in trains. Hoping against hope that it'll register at the 5.3 mark. Probably another 4.9, though.
And dang it all, I actually have a shot for bokeh. Guess I'll have to enter the darn thing. |

Seems like the novices are all up for some of that beginner's suck.
I found an alternative train shot without the steenking genitalia, so I might avoid the 2nd dq...
