i'm just curious what the genral consensus is
on the way in which entries are looked at.
as far as using the allowable tools to adjust an image
mainly been thinking about the nostalgia entry of mine
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=36795
and wondering if it was voted low because of the editing done to it
( people dont think its legal )
or the fact it isnt a straight up photo.
or it just stinks ;}
i thought it fit the challenge pretty well
and enjoy using the computer to mess with images
and stay within the guidelines with anything i use here.
but if that type of photo isnt going to be looked upon well
i'm curious why - or if it just sucks
here's another example taken too early for the urban challenge
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=38069
thanks,

It's Friday night Tim, and most of this DPC crowd is out partying. I like your Nostalgia photograph, but then I remember when sewing machines looked that way. It seems most DPC voters do not care for special effects on photos unless is is a special challenge. Do not be disheartened if you get rude or stupid comments on your challenge submissions...there are a few people out there who are stupid and rude. Most DPCers are good, helpful people, and it is a great place to learn. |

HI. I didn't vote on your picture, it was around the time when I joined. If I had voted, I would have said something about the texture and the crop.
The texture that you created looks too much like artifacts, meaning there are a lot of big blobs. To look like grain, imho, the specks should be round. If you have psp you can use effects,edge,enhance. When I use this filter, I usually create it on a dup layer so I can blend it in for a more subtle effect, usually with the darken blend mode. It will raise the level of noise quiet a bit, but it creates a more rounded texure. Don't know what you would use for ps.
I don't understand why you cropped the picture as you did. I would want to see more of the machine. They were built with graceful curves back then.
I'm new so I don't know what everyone else likes. I don't mind filters as long as they are well done. Actually, I love filters and playing around with them.
I looked at the second one. I'm really tired of the desaturation. It seems that everyone is using it. Yours is really nice and approriate, but there are just so many done that way.
Hope this is understandableand not rude. |

Well. You have a rebel now! So you will be able to do different things. I looked at your portfolio. I like the matches. Probably would have given a higher rating for them if they had been entered in the macro challenge. |
