The shuttle and space station, silhouetted by the sun
How do you think that would have done in the Silhouette challenge? ;-)

Not very well. Just because the editor waxes poetic with the caption doesn't make it anything more than a shoe-in for the challenge.
The silhouette challenge asks that you backlight your subject. Where is the subject in this image? Hardly discernable.
The subject of the image you linked to is not "here is the shuttle see the sun behind it" but rather "here is the sun, see how close the shuttle is".
Nothing more than a visual argument that we are small and the sun and the universe are closer within our grasp than Icarus' wings... |
