Ok, So I've read up on the 30mm f/1.4 HSM and the 20mm f/1.8 by Sigma, but I am not really interested in those focal lengths. 30mm seems to be decent, and I liked the idea of the 20mm f/1.8, but I wanted to do some more reading.
I usually read up at photozone.de, but they have neither of these lenses reviewed.
Anyone have any experience with these two lenses or know of any good thorough reviews?
thanks. |

I used to have the 20mm 1.8. It is a good lens - sharp and 1.8 is great for v low light and extreme DoF shots. However, it is big and heavy.

| Anyone got any experience with the 24mm or 28mm? |

Thanks anyhow... No worries.
I am mostly interested in getting some info out on these lenses as alternatives to the 50mm f/1.8 and moving into a bit wider territory with some nice wide apertures.
They seem to be fairly interesting lenses with virtually no information circulating about them. |

- This was shot with the 28mm f1.8
I have the Sigma 28mm F1.8 - I find it good value for the money but it is pretty soft wide open (as you would expect). I find it works much better on my SLR (Canon Eos 5). Its pretty heavy and well built.
There are only 2 of us here at DPC who have this with the Canon fit.

| I'm also interested in the Sigma 30/1.4, but like yourself I didn't find any detailed reviews anywhere. One member here suggested that I PM group members that use the lens. I did, and received a good report and strong recommendation for this lens. I'll probably spring for it (in about a week or two). The best price that I found was $359 through a Pricegrabber search: Sigma 30mm f1.4 |

Here are a couple shots taken with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4
The second shot was taken wide open at f/1.4, ISO 800, and it's cropped considerably from the original shot. I love the shallow DOF.
