Thanks for all the great advice. I appreciate it! Now... if I only had an hour commute through a game reserve! ;-) Unfortunately, my commute is about 2 minutes up a very boring hill!
You've definitely got me thinking, though. Thanks.

Spiderwebs and water droplets are two of DPC's favorite cliches. You will see them in most challenges. That being said, I saw two really beautiful shots of spiderwebs with water droplets in Geometry. They were completely different from each other and both transcended the cliche.

Yup, that's right! The house the kids lived at/hung out at was in Astoria, 40 miles up the coast, and the "beach scenes" were filmed at Cannon Beach.

That very boring hill may not be so boring if you look with different eyes. If you've gone that way many times it becomes easy to put the blinders on and miss things.
Lately I've become a big fan of just walking around and looking, camera in hand. Even if I'm waiting 5 or 10 minutes I'll get out of the car and walk. And look. And take pictures. It's a great opportunity to learn more of the technical side of photography, but more importantly to see things differently.
Yesterday at lunch I spent about 10 minutes walking around an area I hadn't seen for a while. I didn't find anything for the Leading Lines challenge like I had planned, but ending up finding something I may use for Abstract Macro and the Free Study. After looking at the potential Free Study pics, I'll probably be returning to shoot more. |
