Over the last 23 days several DPC members have been participating in a Self Portrait 30 day challenge.
Most of us have reached a stage where we are starting to struggle...and many are starting to show signs of discomfort amongst ourselves. Whether that is distaste in our bodies, our minds, our abilities or our strength to keep going.
We are all experiencing this.
So I decided to do a montage of poses from this morning to show that the human body is beautiful in no matter what form or angle, with or without clothes. Now before anyone says "Yeah but with your body, anyone can look beautiful". Well stop right there. There are parts of me that I do not like and anyone who knows me can attest to that. But I am still willing to share myself with you all in a way that is just bare all. Give me credit for that....please.
So people...it's time to feel good....look at yourself and say "Yeah....I am okay. I am beautiful. I am me!"
Go on...you can do it.

You go girl. And I may not be the catch of the day to some....but I am a sexy beast to my blind wife:) Even with my weird eyes, my spare tire, and my lack of hair on my head. We all have our flaws...get over it and stop worrying about what everone else thinks. Be happy with yourself. |

Oops - forgot to post this one yesterday. Sorry the editing is horrible, but today has been a sad one.
I really enjoy reading the stories behind everyone's images - helps to remind us that we all have good and bad days...

I just want to say from an outsider, that I have so enjoyed this thread.
There are some amazing photographs in here and I applaud you all.
I have seen some great progress in some of you and some outstanding creativity.
Everyone who particapated should be proud..

And I can't say how proud I am to be in this with such a great group of people. Not only do I stand in front of the camera now, but I actually look like I know a little bit of what I'm supposed to be doing. And that's thanks to the folks doing this challenge. I've learned so much in the past 3 weeks...yes, it's been 3 weeks of this. And we've all had our ups and downs in the past weeks, but we're still going at it. Actually, I don't think Louis or Judi have had any downs, at least they didn't show it in their SPs.
Anyhoo...I'm glad to be part of this.

Louis,
your images inspire me to try harder because you simply do a much better job than I can, even with the same camera... you seem to put great thought and care into your images & I enjoy them - plus, i have the same shirt & have been meaning to do a similar shot. thanks
Judi,
You help me to accept what my wife tells me a million times - that i am not horribly ugly (like the creature I see in the mirror), and that it is okay to be happy with who i am. I admire your bravery, and thank you for being a terrific photographer, a good coach, an all-around friendly person... and it doesn't much hurt that you post nekkid pics of yourself either (for educational purposes only, of course!)
Good night all, and thank ALL of you for helping me along. |

Yeah, it was kinda weird. Louis and Judi have helped me a lot through this, more than anyone else with the technicals..and dealing with my limited resources. They are both amazing..both as people and as photogs. They're both really big inspirations to me.
Truthfully, everyone here has helped me. I see the SPs and see things I want to try at some time. The true creative genius is out there and being shown. Others point out the flaws in my photos and how to fix them. While others just confirm my creative views.

ok so I spent far too much time on this one. 5+ hours. 28 layers and 10 photos. It is still not like I wanted but I am way to tired to continue. I hope you like it. I give you a glimpse inside my mind (what you don't have an eye for a sun in your mind:))

OMG!!! You guys are so great. I was just out photographing 30 harleys and their riders and I come back to this. Organising them all on the main street of town is nothing compared to putting yourself in front of a camera. And that is what we have all done......together. I don't feel any more special than everyone else...so Ross and CD...thanks guys...now you have me blushing. And no....don't ask for a photo of that...I am already red enough!!! LOL!!

Day 24...

|
|
09/26/2006 11:51:35 PM · #894 |
I'll be back soon, I have either had school or work everyday of this challenge and from thursday to Sunday I worked six different shows before going back to school on monday morning. LOL, On Monday I wore two different shoes to school as I was late and still catching up on sleep. Suprisingly, no one said a thing. It was halfway through the day before I noticed, in the middle of a meeting for the school paper where I am the new photo editor, ROFL. Today I had the day off, finally, but had to take my sister to the BART (mass transit at 8 this morning), which i wasn't planning on doing. So I had the day off and relaxed. I have another SP but can't post as it will give away one of my challenge entries. Everyone's shots are still looking great and will be back most likely thursday as I have a full day tommorrow and won't be home the whole day.

I've been checking out your work, everyone, but haven't had time to shoot. I'm taking a photo trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone at the end of this week. I'll be shooting like crazy there.
Keep up the great work and inspire me. I'll finish, but it will take me longer.
Thanks for asking about me.

I would like to say a VERY BIG THANKYOU to the three people who put in complaints to SC about my thumbnail of todays SP being to rude. There have been other nude SP's shown in this thread from others and no complaints were made to my knowledge, and they were not hidden. I have always covered mine just to keep you friggin prudes happy...this one time I didn't as I felt it was so small that it couldn't offend anyone surely.
I even wrote in the about how everyone should be happy with themselves and how they look and this is how I get repaid. My thumbnail gets removed by SC because of the offensive nudity.
HOW DARE YOU! Yes, I am angry.
There are some nudes on here showing genitalia and yet they don't get removed. Why don't you complaining prudes get out of my face and grow up.
And for the ones that do want to see my image then please click on the thumbnail below. Yes I covered it myself just to shut you complainers up. But don't look as it might be just to hideous!
And if you think this post doesn't belong here...well I am referring to the SP challenge...so back off!! I am not thread hijacking!
Thanks a friggin lot!
