One method (of many) is if you have PS (7.0, CS2, Elements) you can use the "Adobe Gamma" applet to calibrate it. In Windows, it's in your Control Panel.

My stuff was fine until I calibrated it the other day using Adobe Gamma. Now, it's off and I can't get it back.

I like the choice of muted backdrop against the BDUs - that works very well! Good lighting, nice shot, and you take much better care of your BDUs than I do. By the way, I'm assuming you're inserting a background. What are you shooting yourself in front of and how are you getting such clean edges?

I am using a white painters cloth. I use the magic wand to select and remove any imperfections in the background, then select and remove the whole background. While this is still selected with the wand; I copy whatever backdrop I want to use and paste into selected area. I use the blur brush to try and smooth out the edges. It is still a technique that I am trying to get better at, but it is coming along. I use Photoshop CS2 for my processing.

I'd say you're doing pretty darn well with it! I haven't tried that method yet. A friend at work also recommended a software package called Mask Pro. He uses it with great success. Ain't cheap, though.

I am actually thinking of buying a chromokey backdrop and some digital images for doing this kind of work. It may be awhile yet since my wife and I are "discussing" the purchase of the Canon 70-200 F2.8L IS USM. Gotta have the glass before the backdrop. Sweeeeet.

Day 22...

Day 21 - To the Power of five

In your face again but this is more an experiment with the catch lights than anything else.

We have a poster at work from a high end stock agency that has a girl with a ring of 8 lights in her eyes.

This is using my cheapo Target Light that has the 5 flexible lights on the head. I probably should have spaced them better for effect.

Have you convinced your wife to get into photography, too? Seems to work 'round these parts (though I'm still not entirely convinced that Makka and Bec aren't the same person), and you'll have better luck getting more glass that way. Of course, you'll probably need a second body, too....

Almost packed. Still have to pack the important stuff, like the camera, batteries, laptop, charger, card reader - that kind of stuff. Here's hoping the leaves are turning in Boston!

ugh... sooooo far behind. where am I? Destroying my bathroom. Be back with it after my back and the rest of my body stops screaming at me. oh, and when the bathroom is actually a room where you can take a bath.

What, 440 views weren't enough? ;) And you even put it in the nude gallery despite not being nekked!

So my suggestion, take someone that has strong photography skills, pick an image from their SP portfolio and go for it. I nominate Louis's James Bond image. ;)

I don't have his mad lighting skillz, and more importantly, I don't have the stubble for it. :-)

I finally got ahead, where I'm posting just after midnight instead of just before.

Day 22: Ghost in the Machine. Thanks to _eug, whose day 22 shot reminded me I'd been meaning to try something like this.

My day 21:

Day 20 got ruined along with 200 other excellent pictures from all day Sunday. Card reader screwed up and lost all the images. Tryed a couple of recovery programs to no avail. Sucks, but at least it wasn't a wedding or anything.

Teehee I'm still on day 14, oh well. Not my favorite work, but still...

By the way, I'm not a basketball person, I will always love soccer : P
