Finally got the nerve up to take a few candid shots. Welcome any feedback on them. Will return comments, of course.

I would try zooming in more for effect, tones are good, IMO a good candid only needs a head shot.

You have to talk to the person first and get them comfortable with you...then you can get closer and capture their emotions.

Look up on the web the work of Larry Fink...he is the best at candids.

"Whisper" is telling a good story.
The others look like they are random shots of people that aren't really doing anything interesting. I know because that's how most of my candids look.
The picture of the other couple isn't bad.
I don't think all candids should only be head shots. Most times the environment is as much of the story as the people are.
Keep practicing. Look for people interacting with each other or their enviroment and pretty soon you'll be good at picking out a decisive moment.
