I have 1 1/2 photo shoots still to edit!

The problem just started. I did make a change to my computer today. I uninstalled Norton, and installed AVG Anti-Virus. (Which I should have done long ago after advice from photographers here!)

Now, when I open photoshop, the credits screen loads, then PS CS2 just goes white and does nothing else.

Any ideas?

edit: Ackkk, figures. As soon as I posted this, it came up. It took about 5 minutes! It was slow opening before....took maybe 1 minute, but this is rediculous. Still open for ideas :) Thanks.

That is what I am thinking I'll have to do.

You might try a defrag, too. I've seen similar issues that have been resolved with a simple defrag.

For some AV software, the first thing they do after being installed is perform a complete / thorough search of your hard drive. Maybe your AV software was hogging the CPU while you were trying to load PhotoShop?

Just one possible explanation....

Sometimes if you delete your preference file, it will work. Photoshop used to freeze on me until I did so.

Cool, i'll start that now since I have to go out. I haven't done it in quite a while!

Try clearing out the Photoshp cache.

I'm not sure where it is on your drive, but on mine, it is in:

C:\Documents and Settings\{your_user_name}\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\4.0\Editor\Browser\cache4

Replace {your_user_name} with just your login name.

BTW, as you can tell, this location is for Photoshop Elements. I would imagine PS CS2 would be similar.
