How big is the original image? H x W and file size. What format is it in? JPEG, RAW, TIFF?

3456x2304 jpeg, thanks! Oh, 3.4 mb, I am confused because cs2 uses "k" instead of mb.

Try going to file--->save for web .

Then, adjust the percentage till it gets within the MB you want.

Ok.

Now what is the intended use of the photo? Why are you trying to downsize from 3.4MB to 2 MB?

Are you using Photoshop?

If it is to e-mail or online use, in PS, , and then use the slider to decrease the quality to get down to 2MB.

This tutorial might help-

Spydr is right. Knowing what you need to resize the image FOR is the first thing you need. Why 2Mb? What are you going to do with the image?

In that case, edit to your heart's content, and then use save-for-web to keep the size under 2000K.
