How big is the original image? H x W and file size. What format is it in? JPEG, RAW, TIFF?

3456x2304 jpeg, thanks! Oh, 3.4 mb, I am confused because cs2 uses "k" instead of mb.

Try going to file--->save for web .
Then, adjust the percentage till it gets within the MB you want.

Ok.
Now what is the intended use of the photo? Why are you trying to downsize from 3.4MB to 2 MB?
Are you using Photoshop?
If it is to e-mail or online use, in PS, , and then use the slider to decrease the quality to get down to 2MB.
This tutorial might help-

Spydr is right. Knowing what you need to resize the image FOR is the first thing you need. Why 2Mb? What are you going to do with the image? |

In that case, edit to your heart's content, and then use save-for-web to keep the size under 2000K. |
