So my uncle stopped by today as I was sleeping on the couch this afternoon as I had worked from last night at 9:30 pm until 11 o'clock this morning and then had to drive carpool home for an hour and half. but once i snapped awake we got to talking and had told me before that he had got this camera from his friend who was a professional photograher for something really cheap like 300 bucks. He came over today to visit and kind of dropped a hint that he had his camera in the car but never used it. Our family is full of impulse buyers and "negotiators". Were often bartering for eachother's things. So he said I could take it for awhile and at some point he would want some prints, I also think the negotiations will involve a pool stick worth more than the camera, but that was his to begin with :). It also comes with the the 18-70 mm kit lens that comes with the D70 and a gigabyte card. Very excited!!!
But the manual that he was given is in spanish, so is the quick user guide, and I want to see what the camera can do, is there places to download PDF manuals of the camera on the internet? I haven't really had a chance to use it yet at all but I know that it has alittle something on the sensor, does the camera have mirror lock-up? Thanks in advance.

Usually the manufacturer keeps owners guides on their sites - I know I've looked up mine on the website when away from home before.

Does anyone who owns or knows about D100's know if you have to have the power adapter to use the mirror lock up function or is three a way to bypass that. There is some gunk that shows up at pretty much all apertures that I want to take care of. Thanks in advance.

Too bad you found the guide. If you have more problems send the camera to me as well as the spanish guide, I have no problems with spanish whatsoever :)

yes you do
BUT
get a plunger type remote with a lock
put the D100 in manual or S& move the speed to BULB mode (be sure you have a freshly charged battery in it)
& voila you are good to clean

but be dmn sure you have a freshly charged battery

Hey that worked like a charm, thanks for the tip!

if the battery is not fully charged (or atleast has a good charge) you run the risk of the shutter closing on you/cleaning instrument
if that happens you have likly distroyed the shutter ($400 repair)

i would be very carefull cleaning without a fully charged battery (or the adapter - even a power glitch would caus the shutter to close (i use a UPS on my adapter when cleaning ;)
