A lady that works at our office has one of the little P&S cameras. It started doing something strange and she asked me if I had any idea what was causing the problem. So, I thought I'd ask you guys since I didn't know. She said that she had taken some photos, but later when she went to look at the group of photos, they all had a jagged diag. line through them with black on each side. She's only had the camera about a month. I've never had this problem with either my 20D or my Panasonic dig. camera. Any idea what could be causing it?

One of those little P&S cameras? Make? Model?
Look at the group of photos? On the camera? In windows? In an editing program?
Jagged diagonal line? An example would help on this.
Internet search for the make & model and known problems?
Need a lot more info on this, otherwise it's like calling a Doctor on the phone, and saying Doc, my elbow hurts - what's wrong with it? |

Sorry! :) She was looking at the photos on the screen on the camera itself. I'll ask her what make & model camera she has when I get to work in about half an hour. Sorry, forgot to ask her. I just thought it might be a "general" or "universal" problem that occurs with P&S cameras.

Maybe, just maybe it's the tiny wrist strap across the lens.

Maybe the orbs have transformed into lines now to trick us!

Ok, she says it's a Sony but she doesn't remember what model. She'll have to check when she gets home tonight. She used the camera & the same memory card a couple of weeks ago and it did fine then. None of you have seen a camera do that before when you went to view the pictures on the camera?

Ok, the mystery is solved! She brought the camera into the office this morning. It's one of the Sony Cyber-Shot ones. Anyway, I looked at it for her and saw that part of the time the lens cover wasn't opening all the way. It had messed up some of the pictures that she had previously taken. When we looked at it this morning, it was getting stuck about 2/3 of the time, so it was real easy to see what the problem was! LOL
