In that case, the "hi-jack" was on-tpoic. |
That was what we're complaining about ... the poor behavior and poor adult judgemen on what is right or wrong in the forums... |

I think it's relevant. The post that comment was referring to seems to be sarcastic, but I think the expression means that you can control something to a point, but past that point you're just damaging your ass... i mean the forums. |

There wasn't anything sexual in those posts. Nudity was discussed, but it was not at all sexual.

It was inapropriate to the thread... as is usual with the thread hijackings |

why not make a chat room then, or make your dpc alternative, but poluting the forums with blaber about inapropriate off topic stuff, is just not right. People join to learn about photography, its ok to have fun, but to abuse your fun is a different story.

IMO, the hi-jack complaining about the posts were more inappropriate.

It was a succint way to make the following points, but for your benefit I will further illuminate:
1. I don't believe the OP was referring to threads and antics that he, alone, does not like. The OP represents a growing contingent of users who do not support behavior beyond what a reasonably prudent person might wish to endure. Notice I said "reasonably prudent" rather than "prude." Notice also that it's not a sub-set of users feeling put out about antics by the general community, it's the general community upset about the antics of a sub-set of users.
2. The political threads have historically been in Rant, which does not automatically appear on the forum front page as threads in General Discussion do. This makes them different.
3. It's not the SC that voiced the "Desperate Outcry;" but they are the ones who have to deal with the complaints. Karmat said there were "a lot" and I believe her, based on what I'm hearing.
4. The admittedly crude tone was meant to convey that it's not just the people who have strict moral codes who are annoyed and frustrated. You don't have to be an up-tight right-wing conservative to be a bit more than sick to death of the offensive behavior.
Frankly, I didn't think it needed more explanation, but I hope this helps. |

But here is the problem - what some people consider "abuse" is simply fun and banter to others.
I have seen plenty of threads I didn't like for some reason or other, but that doesn't mean those people and their opinions should be censored and silenced.
You will never, ever please EVERYBODY. |

Whey can't we have a thread? You get a thread in which you get to post a topic I don't agree with but yet you are allowed to post. But in turn we can not have a thread to post whatever we wish. Why do you get to decide? Seems real hypocritical. |

Indeed you may think just that, but the fact remains that even a highly educated person would not have been able to decipher that from the rather caustic remark you made.
Had you elucidated your views at the onset... my initial comment would not have seen the light of day.

There's always the DPC fanatics chat room... although the one time I went in there, I had like a 30 second lag every time I tried to enter a message, so I never bothered after that. |

*sigh*
I find myself on thin ice taking any position in this thread since I am guilty of hijacking threads and participating in some sexually oriented posts (albeit with woodies or duckies or both).
I can relate to both sides of this issue though. I feel a one or two post hijack, then get back on topic is tolerable. I also feel the accused have been pretty good at taking their antics to their own threads and in the cases where threads have become annoying or intolerable to me, I just ignore them, but must admit that too much of that stuff really degrades the pleasure of visiting the site.
My sincere apologies if my thread hijacking has been out of line.
*drifts off into self-imposed exile*

"ahh... thats because the threads we are talking abotu were not apprpriate, given the circumstances i beleive this thread is very appropriate.. no? "
Then report the post don't call people out. This is a witch hunt and I am done.

You know, even if you made a chat room especially for "that" - someone would manage to complain about it. |
