Could the sellers on DPCPrints get a more complete list of the best sellers for the site? The home page does have a short list of best sellers, but I would like to get a better feeling for what is selling well and maybe even some numbers (volumes and/or dollars). This would be an internal view for sellers, not for buyers.

I think this is a great idea.

I just wish people wouldn't sell their work for such little money. You all make me want to buy your best shots and open a gallery. I could make great money off of you all. Not that I want too -- I'd prefer we as a team develop some standards to keep the value of our work (minimal pricing that is reasonable but doesn't give it away), but hey -- if no one wants too...why shouldn't someone make money?

Ah well, I don't have the gumption to do it -- but someone will one day. Someone will profit off of these lovely photos and it won't be the artists sadly unless there are some changes.

Best,
Renee

I'm wondering what kind of legal issues would go along with doing that. I know that sense you bought the print you own it, but it can't be legal to buy a mass quanity to resell is it? Maybe its just my morals thinking about it.

What would be illegal about it ? Everything else is traded in that way...

If you buy it you can resell it for whatever you can get. You can't make copies of it to sell though, that's what the "copyright" is about.

I suspect that with me, I will eventually sell more prints live than online. My wife and I have been thinking of several venues that would be conducive to selling photos. We also have faculty art exhibits and festivals, which should stir interest. But most of these will have photos that I bring into the gallery.

It would be totally legal as long as I bought each print I resell from DPC as offered, and of course, I didn't claim I was the photographer. If I represented myself as the artist, that would be totally illegal.

No one tracks where their photos go now, do they? Someone could be already doing it.

I sure hope not. I'd prefer we control our own market by putting a little value into it! Just my thoughts.
