I thought these were peaceful, beautifully photographed, serene and generates a sense of calm. Its a shame they weren't better received.

Yes, one of the most 'zen' shots in the challenge. Wish the big tree weren't cropped off a little but other than that, what a great photo. Problem is, it looks too natural heheh. No hyper-saturated colors, nothing in razor sharp focus, not neat imaged to the point of looking like a painting. |

Everyone's already pointed out most of the ones I rated highly - karmabreeze, JPR, Rubienne, bucket, artyste) but I don't think I saw these two yet:

I suppose most don't associate pictures with people in them as zen, but this struck me as just amazingly serene and lovely - shows the human ties to the world in a very graceful and warm way. So much to see in this one.

Another very serene, calming photograph, even the log (which I liked there).
All in all, this was a most enjoyable challenge to vote, and I'll revisit this one from time to time to enjoy the images. Thanks to all, and thanks to Kivet, too, for appreciating mine. :-) |

I haven't wandered away yet :)
I like this because it's not processed to death... IMO it certainly doesn't need it :) |

Well a good night sleep, and so many personal messages, and emails from so many DPC members, I just have one thing to say, and thats a huge thank you, to each and everyone of you, for your most valued support and love. I am not going to mention names, as you all know who you are, and once again I thank you...
I am concerned that some members seem to find fault in people who have certain styles, but now realize that I am who I am, and I will not chage a thing, if I am happy doing what I love, and also what I am capable of.
The message here is I really, I just love taking images of plants and flowers, and if some members arn't happy with that, then so be it.
I will change if and whenever I choose to, and not when someone suggest I should. I love my style, don't plan on changing, and wouldn't have achieved all that I have if I didn't.
I am taking a break earlier than planned, due to my fears and concerns re this issue, but also we have a trip booked comimg up, so taking a weeks break before going away on a small vacation to the "Whitsundies", in the tropics of North Queensland. Yes, I will be taking my camera with me, so look out when I get back, and also hope to take some images for the "Free study" for this month of August.
Originally posted by sherpet: First of all I am surprised you think like this.
I have actually entered 11 challenge entries of either flowers or plants, out of 45 challenge entries.
I like you to also remember, I am now finding it harder to get about without a walker, so I am now restricted to taking image at home, or in the gardens surrounding me. My health may stop me from photographing all together, and that is something I don't look forward to.
I may actually have to give it all, up long before I want to, as in the past six months I have found it imcreasingly harder to cope with the restrictions placed on me.
I also would like to point out that they are quite a number of DPC members who stay in their signiture style of images as that is what they do best, and are known for it, as this is there best photography.
I am going to take a break for awhile, as I feel that there could be many others that think like you, and it just isn't worth it. I am not hurt, but just so disappointed.
Originally posted by biteme: @ Sherpet: first of all, I don't mean to be rude or anything! Please keep that in mind.
You've been photographing plants for a while now (and you can do it very good!), but maybe voters "have seen" it. You've entered several plant-photos, maybe it's time for something new? For example, your apple in the gold challenge was a refreshing entry from you. Keep surprising the voters.
Just a thought :) | |

I don't know if you read my last post here, but I really feel the need to respond to this..

I don't find it fault that some members have certain styles. Like I stated before, it was just a thought, because you thought you received a dissapointing score. I was just thinking: hey, what could be the reason for that? No affence, really. Do what you like to do AND what you're capable to do with your health.

Very true, you don't have to change, why would ONE opinion matter? It doesn't.

I don't think it has to be an issue. And I don't think you should have fears or concerns either.

I understand where you are now comimg from "biteme", and I accept your responces to me, as I now know you did not a mean to hurt me. I am sorry, but it did kind of hurt, but more or a disappointment, like I stated in my thread above.

This wasn't pointed directly at you, but more to do with my knowledge of what many others have told me, re their messages, and emails to me.
I am also the type of person who moves on, if upset or disappointed in anyway, as that is who I am. I also think my health sometimes makes me more emotional, and for that I am truely sorry. I would like to forget the negitives, and move on with the positives, that far outway my love of DPC members, and that includes you as well "biteme".
ps; Now on a lighter scale and a bit of fun to lighten the load somewhat, can you change you user name, "biteme" as I did feel like I had just been bitten, even thought that was not your intention. All is well my end, as I just had to many email and messages to send everyone who contacted me, and wanted to thank then in my way.
I also feel the time this week away from challenges, will not only clear my head, but will lighten my load, and hopefully get well enough to enjoy our trip away.
