The Field of Talent represented by the photographers on this website makes one of the largest crowds of world-class photographers in the world (in my humble opinion.)

As a result potentially some of the finest teachers of photography are here as well and to date remain an untapped resource. This can change quickly, if the GREATS of DPC are willing to express their greatness by helping to improve the talents of others.

DPC University! could become a quarterly or semi-annual challenge/ mentoring Mid-Term or Final Exam...with terms to be honed by consensus vote.

True...This challenge would probably not have occurred to me if I was one of the GREATS! Yet, I have enough self-confidence to admit that right now (and in comparison to the rest of DPC) I am a photographer of meager talents.

However, I do NOT expect that to be a permanent state. I have already learned a great deal from the comments of other photographers on my to-date 45 challenges. I have learned much from the "How-To" articles of some of the GREATS.
Before I joined DPChallenge in December of 2005, I did not know to resize a jpeg for the web. (I kept losing quality when I tried to transfer my photos from my computer to other computers. Frankly, I am a much better photographer than that. I just need to know how in order to REPRESENT well.) Heart-felt multiple Thank You's for the Learn section on this website.

The Bottom Line is that Photographers are Artists. Artists need many kind, positive words & regular encouragement because we Artists have fragile egos. (I should know. DPC is helping to toughen me. Thanks!)

Now, if the GREATS have "tough egos" as well, then being a photography teacher should be a "one-inch putt into the cup." Consider this thread a friendly challenge issued from a POTENTIAL to the GREATS that is filled with RESPECT & CONFIDENCE in your talents & altruistic heartbeat.

Let one of the GREATS (a DPC photographer consistently finishing 6.5 and above) choose a POTENTIAL (a DPC photographer consistently finishing 5.0 and below) to adopt as a "Little Brother/Little Sister" in the profession to mentor to a greater degree of success as a photographer.

The Pay-Off?
1. DPChallenge becomes known as the website of choice for aspiring professional photographers to hone their skills in a friendly environment. (I realize that you may already have this reputation, and my suggestion would magnify that.)
2. The GREATS would expand their influence for creating great photography. (No longer would you be one photographer creating great photos. You would be one photographer & many students creating great photography using combined & honed skills.)
3. The POTENTIALS would improve their "sale"-ability through stronger confidence, greater skills, and be able to provide better for their families, especially if they (like me) use photographic equipment and computer technology as their sole source of income.

Thank you for listening! I know this is a great deal to ask since you all have already helped me so much.

(I consider DPChallenge a great friend because for the first time in my career someone... many "someones" have told me the Truth about my skills [or lack thereof.] DPChallenge has told me why I cannot make money as a photographer...YET!!!!!!! You have helped me to be more determined than ever to improve because I believe that one day making money as a photographer will be a reality in my Life.)

Imagine how great it will be for a formerly inexperienced photographer to brag on/to praise/to endorse Digital Photography Challenge as the website that in great part helped to turn things around for them! :) 777STAN
