this may sound corny.....but I"m going to say it anyway....as a way to generate some money and awareness...what about t-shirts? (I can see eyes rolling:) I've just tried thinking of cheap ways to make fast money...and since I live in Florida and can't be much help in the 'searching' part...although......maybe organizing a GTG in Arizona, with the t-shirts and doing an organized search for Steve may be something to think about...again I know this probably all sounds sketchy...just trying to brainstorm different ideas :)

while trying to fall asleep i had the idea of contacting more agencies to get the word out so more eyes are looking.
I cant get to this right now as I have a morning job so if anyone wants to contact PPA(professional photographers of america) and NPPA(national press photographers association)...and maybe think of other large organizations with chapters in arizona ... cant hurt to get the word out to more people.

I just caught this forum myself ...(still in shock). Don't know what to say except that whatever trouble you're in Steve, hopefully you know that everyone's rooting for your return. I don't participate in forums much but have appreciated your comments in response to my requests. And I sure appreciate your work.
My prayers go to everyone, family and friends who are doing everything they can to look for Steve. |

Iv been reading this from the start, and have ready every single post.
I have experience dealing with a missing adult. My now ex wife, back in 2004 left home w/o notice, leaving it look as if someone had broke in and forced her to go, and taking our child.
For the first day or so, the police activly prusued this, not for her, but for our child. But after that, they gave up, they do have bigger and better things to worry about. It took me a couple days longer, but I, on my own figured out what happend.
I guess basically what I am saying, is that the police may have looked and done all of this work during the first stages. Now, they have it all entered into the computer, and I can assure you that they are not out activly looking. If they run his plate or her SSN via NCIC, a hit will pop up, and they will notify him he is a missing person, thats all they can do. They cannot force him back home, they cannot force him to contact anyone. Actually, once they notify him he is missing, all he has to do is say "no im not, your talking to me" and it will be relayed back to the orginal agency, and removed from NCIC.
Im not trying to be negative here, but I have delt with the missing adult thing, more than one time. As stated, an adult has the right to be missing.
Here is hoping to a safe return. |

No updates yet... we still have not heard from Steve and no one has spotted him. Each day that goes by is harder...
We are still working on getting additional media coverage. The Arizona Republic ran a story in their Mesa section yesterday. I sent all the info to a contact at channel 10 and they seem interested in running the story.
Iva (Steve's sister) drove all over the Mogollan Rim area yesterday looking for his car and putting up flyers. |

Tina, if you were to give a stack of flyers to the park entrance booths, do you think they'd be able to pass them out to the visitors instead of you trying to? Perhaps for something like that you could shrink the flyer to 2 per page to save on costs a little.

I think that is a great idea, I'll check with my contact from State Parks to see how this could be done... If it's possible - I will create a '2 per page' flyer. I don't mind doing the printing for that project, I have a color laser at home, but the only question is the logistics on getting those to the parks. |

Thanks. Could you mail them 50 or 100 each? Shouldn't cost that much to mail them out. Maybe $3.00-5.00 or something...?

My company just left but while visiting the Grand Canyon we all looked for the car and took turns scanning the parking lots. :(
We continue to pray for Steve and his family. |

Just a little update, I talked to Paggy yesterday. Korinsa is a friend of Steve's and the last time she saw him was July 2nd.
There was apparently a large billiards tournament on Friday night and they made an announcement over the loudspeaker. So any of his billiards friends should know about him by now.
Also, could it be possible to update the flyer regarding when he was last seen. I find myself explaining that over again & again...
Tina, e-mail me if there's anything else I can help with |

If the family would like for me to setup a time line on the events from the time he was last seen till know I would be more than glad to do so and place the link in this thread.
If the family or close friends of Steve would like this please email me at scottwhiddon@knology.net with a detailed time line and I will make up a webpage time line. I will update every time I am emailed by family or close friends.
Please give me the name and email of the only people you give consent to send me updates. This way we can keep accurate information.
I wish I could do more and hope this helps if you want me to do this.

The green SUV has been located and the owner spoken to. I did this personally. I can assure you that this lead has been exhausted.

Thank you Erick, that is very generous! Let me get in touch with my contact at State Parks to be sure they would be willing to pass them out before you go through the expense and trouble. |

For what it is worth, a friend of mine, in 95, just up and left from his home, and all thought the worst, he was gone for 5 weeks, and was tracked down with his spending habbits, thru his use of credit card for fuel, and other purchases, I do not believe from looking at the images of Steve that he would walk away forever from those around him. I have not read all of this thread so do not know if this avenue has been looked at. My thoughts go to all the family. |

Is there anyone who could help me get email addresses to the flight schools in arizona? I have names and phone and fax numbers to the 6 arizona schools and 2 helicopter academys and yes I could call for info but I it would be much quicker for us if I could email a request for help with the missing poster. This is what we have been doing in oregon to news stations and that has been the only thing that has worked as far as getting a quick reply to our request. I am responding to the suggestion earlier about asking for the academys to donate flight time or even just a heads up for all pilots to be on the lookout for steves car during the flight time. If any suggestions with this is appreciated. |
