I'd bet a free gift membership that says if they hide the scores during voting the average score cast would be higher. |

That's what I get for trying to comprehend anything before 8am.
Another "duh" moment. |

OK, When I started here 3 years ago, there were a fraction of the entries in any challenge. Let's say your premise is correct and people vote down images because their score isn't what they would like it to be. It follows that with three times the entries, three times the voters, that the average scores would be going down. It then follows that ribboning scores would also be going down. When I started here, you could get a yellow ribbon with a 6.5 plus image. Look at the challenges around late 2003. Now you can have 10+ entries hit 7+ in any given challenge...
Your premise is false...

Well firstly it was not my premise, and you will find in the original thread my reasons were more for fun and being different.
But I do recall seeing somewhere a SC who had access to the stats had graphed stats from the site that clearly showed the voting difference between challenges entered and not entered. Someone will probably have a link to it. |

And I suppose it includes the average vote of 'trolls'... |

Those stats are almost two years old. I wonder what they'd show now? |

after looking at the results of the lines 2 challenge I am all for a scoreless / voteless challenge. i think everyone needs a long break from voting as it has made lots of people cranky.
