OK, maybe I'm OVERthinking what I should do. But, I'm not sure. These are the 3 I narrowed it down to.
Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG - $625 - Not as wide as the rest and a bit slower. But, better glass (DG).
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 (D) EX DC - $500 - Faster and wider than above, but not a DG.
Tamron SP 11-18 f/4.5-5.6 Di II LD - $500 - Wider than the 1st. Kind of in between the other 2.
Is there THAT much difference at the at 10/11/12mm? Also, I currently have a Sigma 70-200 2.8 EX DG, which is my only 'good' lens. So, after buying a super wide-wide lens, I'll need another to fill in the gap and was thinking of the Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD.

The DG designator on the Sigma has nothign to do with the glass. It designates it as a digital only lens.

Oops.. it's not digital only... it's just 'digital'. The DC lens is digital only.

Yeah, the DG designation stands for 'digital glass', better quality glass than the DC.....so I read.

From Sigma's website:

DG (DG Lens)
These are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs.

DC (DC Lens)
These are special lenses designed so that the image circle matches the smaller size of the image sensor of most digital SLR cameras. Their specialized design gives these lenses the ideal properties for digital cameras, the compact and lightweight construction is an added bonus ! including compact and lightweight construction.

Those designators have nothing to do with the glass quality.

I would go for the 10-20mm over the others, unless you want to hit someone over the head with the older sigma lens - from memory it's a pretty hefty bit of glass.

OK, now I'm confused. Here are the links for the Sigma 10-20mm and Sigma 12-24mm. Note the 12-24 has a wider angle of view 122° - 84.1° to 109.4°- 70.5°..weird, normal or am I misreading it?

Be careful when looking at the advertised angle of view. For the digital-only lenses, ti's probably based on a 1.5-crop sensor. For the digital + 35mm lenses, it's defintiely based on a 24x36mm (full 35mm frame) sensor.
The angle of view (AoV) reported is nearly always the diagonal angle of view. FWIW, 10mm is somewhat wider (109°) than 12mm (99°) on your particular camera. Notice that it's a little less difference than you'd expect; that's because you're dealing with rectilinear lenses.

Check out //forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1029&message=11982207 for a visual comparison. You have to click on the photo to see the whole thing.

AFIK, Sigma DG lenses are "regular" 35mm lenses with a special coating to reduce internal reflection. Sigma DC lenses are designed for a 1.5/1.6 crop factor camera and may not work properly on 1.3 crop factor or ff cameras.

You haven't mentioned the Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4.0 AT-X 124AF Pro DX as a candidate. I bought this lens about six months and I love it.
