This was my first submission to a challenge so I wasn't expecting great scores. One of the comments on my picture did prompt me to post a question. The comment was in regards to the sky portion of my picture not being very detailed or vibrant. In the original it actually is much better than the submission. I found that in reducing the picture to the file size for submission I lost more quality than I was really happy with.
What recommendations are there for decent resizing to 150k with minimal quality loss ?

Slowly recovering, but still not doing as well as I'd expected or hoped. What comments there are have been favorable. Wish I had some negative/constructive comments to let me know why it's not doing as well as I thought it would.

When this was first submitted, it was given a 5.5 and then a 6.
Now it has slowly decreased to an avg of 5.01
with 128 votes, and 151 Views. I was very pleased with this picture.
I think it should be given more credit than what it is worth, considering the other photos DNMC....Just a thought!!

I'm sorry but I had to stop voting at 58%. I've never seen so many entries that just had NOTHING to do with Stationary!! There are ACTION shots in this challenge that people submitted as stationary!! Maybe DPC should have links to dictionary.com next to the descriptions of the challenges!!
Sorry, just ranting. With 284 entries it's just too much to bear. |

I haven't voted yet, but I think after seeing this commented on a few times my first pass will be just a very quick sort into "do" and "do not", then the second pass will fine tune the "do" pile.

I'm with you. I hit 20% and started scanning the thumbs to find something relevant.
I do give credit to shots that show something that normally moves very fast when it's still (as opposed to something the shutter stops). For example, a person running is out, but a jogger bent over gasping for breath is in (I didn't see either, so I'm not giving anything away here). That conceptual contrast works for me.
Anyway, on topic, here are my stats. Looks to be my best yet in my 4 challenges. :)

I'm at a personal best so far: 5.6121.
Now if someone would just vote a leeeetle bit higher. 0.007 gets me fourth-best with this camera. 0.05 gets me third-best. :)
Edited to mention I took it with my non-default camera: the Canon A620.
Edited a second time to mention that I'm an idiot. I took the current shot with my default camera. It's my perspective entry that I took with the A620.
So. Um. Please vote high on that one (just uh, guess which one it is.) :)
