I apologize if this has been posted before. I searched the forums and didn't find anything.
I have no idea if this is possible, but it would be great to see in the equipment section a place for filters.
There are always threads popping up about which filters to get for what is needed. I know people often use ND filters and/or polarizers for daylight long exposures, infrared for infrared, coloured filters for other things.
It would also be great if there was an option to show which filters you have, and which ones you used in shots, like you can currently do with lenses.

I think that is a great idea! I had thought of this myself of why there is no section to list filers. I want to know what an ND filter is? I have heard of it for long exposures in daylight but is it actually called an ND filter or is that just initials for something else? |

ND = Neutral Density. It's supposed to change the amount of light (density) without changing the color (neutral).
A graduated ND filter does the same, but is shaded in a gradient across its surface. It's usually used when you have a dark foreground and bright sky -- the dark part at the top cuts the sky exposure, while the clearer part on the bottom allows more exposure of the dark FG. Some are fixed-size screw-on filters. Others are larger sheets in a holder, which can be moved around to optimally position the gradient for your particular composition.

Yes, that's a good idea.
But if I may piggyback a request, I'd like to see focal length added as well. We say what lens we use, what aperture, shutter speed, but not focal length!

Thank you General E and Pidge. I am going to invest in one of these ND filters. I get a lot of daytime lightening here and that may help daytime long exposures for those to. Nice for the beaches to. I don't have many waterfalls but there is one I have yet to travel to I know of, so this will give me a reason.
I have it marked to buy this ND, a step up and a reverse ring. Now I just have to count my coins. :) |

It's getting to the point where it might be easier if we could upload files with EXIF data, and have the site parse it and populate those fields automatically.
Also, sometimes the EXIF shows just really bizarre numbers, so I'm not sure how useful it is. |

Well you could have the fields autopopulated by the EXIF data, but then the user could edit them if they turn out wrong. And of course, the code for import could use some simple integrity checks.
