I know this has been brought up several times, but if anyone can guide me to an article or offer any help it would be much appreciated.
I want to learn how to put a border/frame around a photo, along with the title of the photo & my name. I've seen several others here that are really well done & very professional.....
Thanks!

There are many different versions around and it is all up to your own imagination and likings. This is one that I do a lot.

It is simply placing a number of borders around the image. Then create a new layer and type your text in the font/size/colour etc that you want. Move the text to the area you want and then repeat more text on another layer until you have finished.

If I knew what program you used I would be able to lay it out in more detail for you.

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 3. Also I use Microsoft PictureIt 7.
I've a few other programs on my computer, but these are the main ones that I like.

Select button--->all
Edit button---->stroke

again if you want multiple borders
then Text tool, put what you want and the color
keep text layer activated, and use your move button. Move it where you want it.

Hope it helps, if not maybe judi can explain better. -J.

But this will cover the outer portion of your picture. If you've already cropped, you should increase the Canvas Size; the Background Color will fill the new space.

I actually generated a template for this particular series of images. Once the photo was processed, all I did was drag it into the template and edit the text and I was done ;) I have a few templates that I use depending on the images I produce.

Let me know if you want a copy of the template. I would gladly send it to you ;)

Cheers,

Rikki

Something like THIS?

It's not too difficult if you understand layers in photoshop. Each element of this composition is on a separate layer and All i used to create the mats and frame was the bevel/emboss function...

is this for printing purposes or just for internet display?
What would you use on a print? Would you use any border at all? And the image information and signature, etc, just bottom-right it fairly small?

Thought I'd post a quick update. I have not mastered the border / frame concept yet(also have not had much free time), but as soon as I get one that turns out right, I'll be sure to post! I have to get used to layering.......I'm starting to think I am Adobe PS illiterate, LOL :)

Hey, wanted to drop a line to say that I actually figured out how to make a border! Thanks to you all of course :).
Of course I only did one with a plain, simple border, but now that I've got that down, I can move on to maybe adding another color & text :).
Thanks again
