It seems that within most challenges there is a huge amount of variance in interpretation of what fits the challenge and what doesnt. This results in a large spread of shots/quality etc which is good but makes it hard to say photo x is better than photo y for a particular reason. for me, this makes it easy to say "nice photo" but not "nice photo because a & b were done"
how about a challenge that forces people to have similar shots so that it becaomes almost a straight shoot-out based on composition/lighting/pov on the same theme eg: "photograph a teaspoon and a cup with no other props or liquid involed". this would mean all photos would have a teaspoon and a cup and nothing else. It would be easier to compare two photos and then (which is my goal) LEARN what works well and what doesnt. |

Well, there was this challenge which was sort of like what you are suggesting

That would be fun to do again, since the other was a member only speed challenge. So I wonder when will we have another speed challenge ;)
